An animated film "Sinbad: The Flying Princess and the Island of Secrets" has been announced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Nippon Animation. The film will be released in July.

This animation film is produced by the team of Nippon Animation, which has produced the "World Masterpiece Theater" TV animation series based on numerous children's books, and Shirogumi, whose 3DCG version of Doraemon, "STAND BY ME Doraemon," was a big hit. The story is about Sinbad, a boy who dreams of becoming a sailor and traveling to the unknown world, and Sana, a girl who rides a wooden horse in the sky. The film is directed by "Doraemon: Nobi-taiko" (Doraemon: Nobi-taiko).

The director is Shinpei Miyashita, who directed "Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur 2006"; series composition is by Hiroyuki Kawasaki, who directed "Ronja, the Bandit's Daughter"; animation director is Yoshiharu Sato, who worked on "My Neighbor Totoro," "The Witch's Delivery Service" and other Ghibli films; animation production is by Nippon Animation; and distribution by Aeon Entertainment. Kentaro Koike (producer, Shirogumi) and Takashi Inoue (producer, Nippon Animation) commented, "The theme of this project is 'inheritance,' and we would like to visualize the important things that should be passed down from parents to children over the ages in a form that fits the current era, based on an immortal masterpiece. I would like to visualize the theme of this project in a way that is appropriate for the current era.
