Akihabara was ranked No. 4 in the "2015 Best Places to Live in Kanto Edition" by Tokyo Walker.


This ranking was announced in the third issue of the leisure magazine "Tokyo Walker" 2015, which went on sale on January 27. The data was compiled based on a reader survey and an Internet-based web survey of users in their 10s to 60s living in the Kanto area and three prefectures (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama) from eb-i, a consumer trend survey operated by Enterbrain. The number of valid responses was 2,530.

Akihabara ranked fourth, receiving overwhelming support from males in their 10s to 40s for its "love of anime and games" and "proximity to an electronics district. According to the magazine, "Although it does not have a strong image as a residential area, the number of properties has been increasing in recent years, and rents are cheap. Incidentally, the top three places were dominated by chalet towns such as Kichijoji, Yokohama, and Jiyugaoka. Ikebukuro, home to "Otome Road," a sacred place for rotten girls, ranked fifth.
