Pioneer offers a BD drive specialized for music CD playback, which is packed with AV equipment know-how!

Pioneer has released the BDR-S09J-X, a Blu-ray drive equipped with a music CD playback quality check function.

The BDR-S09J-X is a SATA-connected internal Blu-ray drive specialized for music playback. It features an enhanced music CD reading function. The "Audio CD Check" function checks the playback quality of music CDs (CD-DA) on a four-level scale from A to D. If a CD is given a low grade of C or D, a remedy is displayed, and the unit can be reconfigured accordingly for playback that is appropriate for the CD condition.

The "PureRead (original sound reproduction)" function, which faithfully reads music CD data, and the "RealTime PureRead" function, which reduces the frequency of data interpolation, can be turned on and off.

In addition, the disc tray is coated with the same high specific gravity material used in the company's high-end audio equipment to improve anti-vibration performance, and the interior and exterior of the cabinet are specially coated to enhance heat dissipation. The front panel is coated with high-gloss hard-coat UV paint to prevent scratching, resulting in a glossy piano black color.

In addition, low-resistance flat cables and copper-plated screws are used to improve conductivity. It is said to reduce noise in recording and playback signals.

The main unit measures 148 (W) x 42.3 (H) x 181 (D) mm and weighs 740 g.
