Broadwell is Intel's 5th generation Core processor with a 14nm manufacturing process. The newly introduced processor for mobile use, which was given the development code name of "Broadwell-U," has improved power-saving performance while focusing on graphics performance compared to the current 4th generation (Haswell).

The two new models are equipped with the 2-core/4-thread Core i3-5010U CPU (clock: 2.1GHz, cache capacity: 3MB, TDP: 15W, integrated GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5500). In addition, it newly supports M.2 SSD (Tyep 2242/2260/2280) as a storage interface. In addition, a USB 3.0 port (orange) with charging functionality is located on the front.

Supported memory is 2 SO-DIMMs (DDR3L-1866 compatible, max. 16GB). Main interfaces are Gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi (802.11ac)/Bluetooth 4.0, SATA 6Gbps, USB 3.0, and AUDIO IN/OUT (combo jack). Monitor outputs are Mini DisplayPort 1.2 and Mini HDMI 1.4a, and the power supply is the included AC adapter.

The body is made of aluminum and plastic. The NUC5i3RYK measures 115 x 111 x 32.7 mm, while the NUC5i3RYH measures 115 x 111 x 48.7 mm. The NUC5i3RYH is taller and has a 2.5-inch bay shadow bay. Other specifications are the same.
