BRIX GB-BXI7-5500, a compact GIGABYTE barebone with Broadwell-U version Core i7, is now available!

The BRIXGB-BXI7-5500, a small barebone kit from GIGABYTE with the 5th generation Core i, aka Broadwell, is now available.

This compact barebone kit measures 114.4 (W) x 33.9 (H) x 107.6 (D) mm and uses Intel's 5th generation Core i for mobile use, which was called by the development code name Broadwell-U, as the CPU. The product equipped with the 5th generation Core i7 CPU will be released earlier than Intel NUCs.

The CPU is the Core i7-5500U, with 2 cores/4 threads, clocked at 2.4 GHz (max. 3 GHz with Turbo Boost), TDP of 15 W. The built-in GPU is an Intel HD 5500 (clock: 300 MHz, max: 950 MHz).

The main unit has a simple design with an aluminum frame and glass surface. The top panel is equipped with a new NFC module. In addition, a VESA mounter bracket is included for mounting on the back of an LCD monitor.

Supported memory is two DDR3LSO-DIMMs (1333/1600 MHz, max. 16 GB). Main interfaces include Gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n/ac)/Bluetooth 4.0, mSATA x 1, M.2 x 1 (Wi-Fi/BT card installed), USB 3.0, AUDIO IN/OUT (combo jack). Monitor output ports are Mini DisplayPort and HDMI.
