Mayu Watanabe, the center of AKB48, will cover the anime song "Triangler".

Mayu Watanabe, a.k.a. Mayu Watanabe, is known as a genuine otaku. It has been announced that Mayu Watanabe will participate in the 20th anniversary tribute album "REQUEST" (to be released on April 22) to Maaya Sakamoto, who has written numerous anime songs. Ms. Watanabe will cover Sakamoto's 15th single "Triangler" (lyrics by Gabriela Robin, music by Yoko Kanno), the opening theme of the hit TV anime "Macross F," which was broadcast in 2008 and is a classic song about a love triangle, The expectations for how Ms. Watanabe will sing the song are high.

The album also features covers of Sakamoto's songs by other famous artists such as SUGIZO, Sincerity Brothers, and KIRINJI. The limited first pressing of the album will include the CD "ORIGIN," which contains Sakamoto's original music in the same song order.

I have always loved the song "Triangler" and sang it whenever I went to karaoke, so I was really happy when I heard about this opportunity. It was a fresh and very rewarding job for me.
