Char Aznable appears on the cover of AERA! First time ever to have a newly drawn character on the cover!

Char Aznable is on the cover of the March 5 issue of "AERA" magazine (on sale February 23).

This project was planned in connection with the issue's feature on the OVA "Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin I: Casbal of the Blue Eyes," which will be screened on February 28. Char on the cover is newly drawn by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the general director of the film and the character designer of the first "Mobile Suit Gundam" that was broadcast 36 years ago. In the past, the April 7, 2003 issue of "AERA" featured "Astro Boy" on the cover, whose birthday falls on the same day, but this is the first time that a newly drawn character has appeared on the cover.

The special feature also includes an illustration drawn by Yasuhiko, faithfully reproducing the actual paper colors to the "blotches" in the illustration. In addition, there are people who learned their lives from Gundam, people who were shown popular Gundam models beyond their generation/gender, Char's history of women and his philosophy of love, and Yasuhiko's column.
