Master Series, a series of short occult horror novels originating from 2chan, to be made into a film!　Live-action movie/TV animation/TV drama to be released by the end of 2016

The "Master Series" will be adapted to film. A live-action movie, an animated TV series, and a TV drama series have been announced.

The "Master Series" is a series of short occult horror novels that was first published on the giant anonymous bulletin board "2channel" in 2003 and has continued to release more than 113 titles on the web. In January 2014, a book version was published by Futabasha. The novel continues to fascinate fans even now, more than 10 years after its release, with its bizarre storyline that keeps the reader guessing and the bewitching and occult gimmicks incorporated into the storyline.

Now, it has been revealed that a film adaptation project will be launched in 2016. As the first project, a live-action film version (director: Atsushi Shimizu, script: Chiaki Konaka) will be released by the end of 2016. An animated TV version and TV drama version will also be broadcast in the same year.

A teaser video featuring young actor Mahiro Takasugi as the project's image character has also been released. In the teaser video, the main character, Uni, who is guided by his master to open the door to the other world hidden in everyday life, is depicted in a fusion of animation and live action.

When I heard about the film adaptation, it was before it was made into a book or a comic book. At that time, I had no sense of reality. I am surprised that it is now about to become a reality. I had never heard of the "Master Series" until Director Atsushi Shimizu invited me to read it. When I read it, I found it to be a lot of fun. I think it sets a new standard for true horror stories. In adapting the film, I will try my best to maintain the nuance of the original story and show my determination as an author of the old generation.

I love anime, so I am very happy to be able to participate as the image character in this project, which is a collaboration of live-action and anime. When I shot the film, the animation part had not yet been completed, so I played the role from my imagination, but when I saw the finished video, it was a strange feeling to find myself in the world of the anime. I think the images are very beautiful, and I hope many people will be able to see them.

<Story
This is an occult horror film in which the main character "Uni," a first-year college student from the countryside, experiences various urban legends and psychic phenomena, guided by a psychic senior "master" he meets at a club and his friends full of individuality. At the end of the multilayered story, where mysteries call for mysteries, you will find a world you have never experienced before. Once you step into the world, there is no going back to your everyday life.
