Pioneer releases BDR-XS06JM portable BD drive for Mac!　Slot-loading type, with "Toast 12

The BDR-XS06JM, a slot-loading portable BD drive for Mac, is now available from Pioneer.

The BDR-XS06JM is a USB 3.0 external Blu-ray drive that uses a slot-in loading system.

The BDR-XS06JM is equipped with the "Intelligent Eco Mode," an energy-saving function that learns media usage status and automatically cuts unnecessary power consumption. Power consumption is lower than that of the previous BDR-XS05J model.

Also included is Roxio's "Toast 12 Titanium BD/HD Plug-in" Mac application software for BD/DVD/CD disc creation and BD authoring (no Blu-ray playback software).

In addition, the device is equipped with "PURE READ2+ (Original Sound Reproduction)," a proprietary technology that improves the reading accuracy of scratched audio CDs.

Maximum BD write speeds are -R/-R DL 6x, -R TL/QL 4x, and -RE/DL/TL 2x. Read speeds are 6x BD-ROM, 8x DVD-ROM, and 24x CD-ROM.

Other major specifications include a 4 MB buffer capacity and bus power. The main unit measures 135 (W) x 18.0 (H) x 135 (D) mm, weighs 280 g, and can be installed horizontally.
