Yasuomi Umezu unveils a new illustration for the 18-rated anime "A KITE!　Hollywood live-action film version to be released in Japan

Animation director Yasuomi Umezu has released a new illustration of the film version of "A KITE".

This is in commemoration of the April 11 release in Japan of the movie "KITE," a live-action version of the Japanese 18-rated OVA "A KITE" (1998, original story/director/scriptwriter: Yasuomi Umezu), which has a cult following in Hollywood. Unlike Sawa in the original anime, the main character in the live-action version, Sawa, with red hair and red costume, is standing in a diner after a gunfight with a pistol in his hand. The illustration will be made into a postcard and given to the first 3,000 visitors to theaters screening the film nationwide.

Incidentally, the live-action film version stars India Eisley, daughter of Olivia Hussey, the famous actress of yesteryear and 12th on the 2014 edition of "The Most Beautiful Faces in the World," as well as Samuel L. Jackson and Callan McAuliffe. Directed by Ralph Ziman, the film is rated R15+.

I was surprised because I never thought I would be painting the movie version of Sawa with celluloid, but it was such a fun job. If the situation is the same as in the movie, you can just watch the movie, so I dared to paint a scene that does not appear in the movie. The moment when Sawa is about to leave the restaurant after killing his target......that's the image I had in mind. Another Sawa, forever!

<Story
In the near future, the financial crisis has collapsed. Many girls are kidnapped and sold as sex slaves. One of them, Sawa, whose parents were killed at an early age, is raised as an assassin by her father's best friend and partner, detective Akai. Her goal is revenge against the human traffickers who avenged her parents. Sawa assassinates men one by one. But what awaits her is an unexpected and cruel fate.
