Akiba Spill] A remote control for smartphones that can shut down the camera using ultrasonic waves is now on sale.

Akiba Koho" is an irregular column introducing PC parts and digital gadgets that the Akiba Research Institute staff found interesting during the research.

Ultrasonic Shutter", a remote control for smartphones that allows the camera shutter to be triggered by ultrasonic waves, is now on sale at IOSYS Akiba Chuodori store.

The "Ultrasonic Shutter" is a remote control that recognizes ultrasonic waves emitted by the remote control from the microphone and triggers the camera shutter by installing a dedicated application (compatible with iOS 6.1 or later/Android 4.1 or later) on a smartphone.

No pairing or other settings are required, as is the case with conventional Bluetooth-connected remote controls, so anyone can easily take pictures with the remote control. The remote control comes with a stand for smartphones, making it easy to take selfies and enjoy fixed-point photography.

In addition to its own use, this product would also make a good gift for those who are unfamiliar with smartphone operation.

The price is 1,280 yen (tax included).
