SAMURAI7," an anime work inspired by the "Seven Samurai," will be released on Blu-ray BOX on August 5!

The TV animation "SAMURAI7," produced in 2004 as a 50th anniversary project for the release of the masterpiece film "Seven Samurai" by master director Akira Kurosawa, will be released as a Blu-ray BOX on August 5, 2015.

SAMURAI7" was produced by animation studio GONZO in a high-spec format with full digital HD picture quality and 5.1ch surround sound, which was unprecedented at the time, and was a pioneering work in the high-definition digital animation that is the mainstream today. The animated version of this work was reconstructed based on the fascinating world and characters of the original work, while adding science fiction elements such as a setting that benefits from a mechanized civilization.

The battle between Kanbe and the other seven samurai hired by the farmers for "rice" and the giant mechanical samurai "Nobuseri" is a highlight unique to the anime. The Blu-ray release includes all 26 episodes of the TV series in HD quality and 5.1 channel audio, the same as the original masters, and also includes the DVD extras "Komachi Dayori", "Okara Observation", and "Non-Credit OP/ED" in HD quality. The box art will be newly illustrated by Hideki Hashimoto, animation character designer.
