On March 30, 2015, GIGABYTE Japan announced that it has signed a new authorized distributor agreement with Asahi Electronics, a PC parts distributor business. From now on, GIGABYTE's small PC "BRIX" series and motherboards will be sold through Asahi Electronics.
With this agreement, the number of GIGABYTE distributors in Japan has now shifted to two, including the existing Lynx International. CFD Sales, which had been the distributor for the company's motherboards and small PCs, discontinued handling these products on March 27 (although some products, such as video cards, will continue to be handled). Asahi Electronics and Link International will also take over support for the terminated products.
Also on display was an unexpected new product: a new model of the company's "CHAMPION SERIES" motherboards with the X99 chipset.
The three products on display were the top-of-the-line "X99-SOC Champion," named after the series name "Champion," the gaming model "X99-Gaming 5P," and the standard model "X99-UD4P. Although not exhibited at the show, the X99-UD3P, which is positioned below the UD4P, is a total of four additional models.
The release is scheduled for May, but the actual products to be released in Japan and the estimated selling price of each product are yet to be determined.
