Live-action Patlabor collaborates with Roboko, the mascot of Shinjuku Robot Restaurant! Collaboration poster unveiled!
THE NEXT GENERATION PATLABOR", a live-action version of the classic anime "Mobile Police Patlabor", has released an April Fool's Day limited visual.
The film, which has attracted attention because it was produced at a total production cost of 2.2 billion yen, including a life-size Type 98 Ingram measuring 8 meters in length and a fully realized Section 2 building with a Laberdog attached, will start with Chapter 1 (Episodes 0-1) on April 5, 2014, followed by the final Chapter 7 (Episode 12, "The Great Legacy") on January 10, 2015. The Great Legacy") was screened. The feature film version "THE NEXT GENERATION PATLABOR: Capital Decisive Battle" will be released on May 1, 2015.
The April Fool's Day visual, a modified version of the original visual featuring two Ingrams holding revolver cannons, features Roboko, the mascot character of the Robot Restaurant in Shinjuku, in place of Ingram. This Roboko is popular not only for its shows at the restaurant, but also for being mounted on an AD car and driving around town, as well as for events, exhibitions, and television. It is a high-performance robot with movable facial expressions, arms, legs, and chest, and can even be boarded (production and development cost 100 million yen!). (The cost of production and development was 100 million yen!), and Hollywood directors such as Tim Burton, J.J. Abrams, and Guillermo del Toro are said to have a crush on the robot.
This is the first time in history that a robot restaurant and a movie have collaborated. The Robot Restaurant is only a three-minute walk from Shinjuku Piccadilly, the theater where the film will be screened, and a Robot Restaurant spokesperson said, "We have a big fan among our employees, and I think Ingram from 'Patlabor' is one of the major robots. We are extremely honored that our robot child will be taking his place!" He commented.
