Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of "F" Surpasses 1 Million Viewers on its 7th Day of Release! Fastest among 2015 releases, reaching 1.3 billion yen in box-office revenue!

The animated film "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'," which opened in theaters on April 18, is certain to surpass 1 million viewers on its seventh day of release.

Following "Dragon Ball Z: Gods and Gods," which was released in March 2013 as the first movie version in 17 years, this is the 19th Dragon Ball movie. It is a sequel to the previous "Gods and Gods," and is also attracting attention because the original author, Akira Toriyama, himself is in charge of the screenplay. The director is Naoki Yamamuro, a long-time animation director for the series, who participated in the previous film as the chief animation director. The cast includes Masako Nozawa, Ryusei Nakao, Koichi Yamadera, Seiichi Morita, Ryo Horikawa, Shoji Sato, Hiromi Tsuru, Mayumi Tanaka, Toshio Furukawa, Takeshi Kusao, Hikaru Midorikawa, and Yuko Minaguchi. The theme song is sung by the idol unit Momoiro Clover Z.

The film, which opened on April 18 on 653 screens (2D x 325/3D x 300/4DX x 10/IMAX 3D x 18), the largest in Toei's history, drew over 950,000 viewers by April 23, its sixth day of release, and is sure to surpass the one million mark on its seventh day. Of course, it was the fastest film released in 2015 to surpass the 1 million mark, and its box-office revenue through the sixth day of release was approximately 1.3 billion yen. On weekends, the film is attracting 30-40 year old fans of the older films and parents and children who are watching the current broadcast of "Dragon Ball Kai," while on weekdays, men in their teens and 20s are visiting the theater with their friends, a significant increase over the previous film "God and God" in the pre-school to junior high school age demographic. With the major holidays coming up, the film is also expected to attract a larger family audience.

In response to the success of the film, Toei, the film's distributor, has decided to hold a big hit thank-you speech on April 28. Details will be announced on the official website.
