Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, Chapter 3 "Shining Thing: Fallen from Heaven" Advance Screening Report! Maaya Sakamoto: "There's something about Matsukaze-san's voice that makes me grin."
A report from the advance screening of "Code Geass: Akito the Exiled," the third chapter of the anime "Code Geass: Akito the Exiled," which will be screened in theaters on May 2, has arrived.
Code Geass: Akito the Exiled" is the latest work set in the period between the first and second seasons of the "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion" anime, and is being shown in theaters in four chapters. The third chapter, "Shining Things Fall from the Sky," will be screened on May 2, 2015, and the fourth chapter, "From the Memory of Hatred," on July 4, 2015.
A report on the advance screening of Chapter 3, "Shining Thing: Fall from Heaven," has just arrived. The advance screening was held on April 26 in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya, and voice actors and staff attended the screening at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo. The following is the report.
The BD/DVD will be released on June 26.
Cast members Miyu Irino, who plays Akito Hyuga, and Masaya Matsukaze, who plays Shin Huga Scheing, as well as producer Yoshitaka Kawaguchi of Sunrise and director Kazuki Akane appeared as special guests at the event, which was greeted with loud applause from the audience. During the talk show, Matsukaze suddenly greeted the audience by saying, "I am Maaya Sakamoto, who plays the role of Leila Markal," to which Irino responded, "Oh, come on! While the audience was very excited, producer Kawaguchi said, "I said that we would start the third chapter right after the screening of the second chapter, but I apologize for making you wait for so long. We have to take time to deliver the climax in the best possible way," he said, apologizing for the delay and explaining the circumstances behind the delay.
When asked about the third chapter, Ms. Irino said, "The third chapter may look more subdued than the previous chapters with fewer battle scenes, but the relationships between the characters and the emotions and inner lives of Akito and Shin are carefully depicted. In that sense, I think it is a very important story toward the climax. Matsukaze-san revealed that he felt a great sense of responsiveness, saying, "It was very rewarding to play the scenes involving Julius and Suzaku. Director Akane, on the other hand, said, "Chapters 1 and 2 started with an explanation of the worldview, so I wanted to delve deeper into the characters this time. However, Akito is a character who does not speak his mind, so I wanted to express that through the characters around him. So I hope you can imagine Akito's feelings by watching the changes in the expressions of Ryo, Yukiya, Ayano, Leila, and the other characters around him. He added, "When Akito and his friends leave the old ladies and fly back to Japan, Akito says to Leila, 'I'd like to go to Japan with you someday,' and smiles at her. Akito had never smiled before, but he smiled for the first time in the scene.
She pointed to the scene in which Akito, who had never smiled before, shows a smile for the first time.
When it came to the bonus audio commentary included in the package for Chapter 3, Matsukaze confessed, "Maybe it was still depressing, but in Chapters 1 and 2, I wasn't called on, and in Chapter 3, I was called on for the first time. Then, Ms. Irino immediately joined in, saying, "Maaya-san was a little uncomfortable (laugh)," and the two talked in perfect harmony. During the commentary, Maaya and I were talking about how Matsukaze-san was perfect for the role, and when we wondered what made her the right person for the role, Maaya said, "Matsukaze-san's voice has a kind of smirk," which was impressive. To which Matsukaze replied, "You don't use that word when you are complimenting someone, do you?
At the end of the event, the speakers commented one by one. Kawaguchi said, "It is encouraging for our staff to receive support from so many fans, even though we have had to wait so long. Thank you very much for your support today." Director Akane said, "We have been working on various ideas for Chapter 4, following Chapter 3, and have incorporated interesting images and storylines, so please look forward to it. Matsukaze-san said, "I believe that the work will not disappoint the expectations of the fans here. I hope you will enjoy Chapter 3 and stay with us until Chapter 4. Irino said, "I hope that you will visit the theater as many times as possible, and I hope that we can make "Akito the Exiled" more exciting together with the fans. The premiere screening event came to a close with each of them expressing their gratitude to the fans.
The BD/DVD will be released on June 26.
