In addition to the royal ballad "MIRAI," the third song from the "Odottemita! GARNiDELiA's new single is a must-see!

Since their major debut, the two members of "GARNiDELiA" have sung the theme songs for a number of high-profile productions, including "Kill la Kill," "The Lesser Student of Magical High School," and "Gundam G Reconguista. Their new single "MIRAI" is their first ballad single and is the ending theme song for the TV anime "Gunslinger Stratos. The two have always been good at ballads, and here is the true essence of their talent!

The theme of the song is based on the feelings of the heroine, Katagiri Kyoka.

─ ─ "Gunslinger Stratos" is a work full of mystery, action, and youth.

Meilia: The action is cool and the story is foreshadowed in many places. I think the story will continue to expand and become more and more spectacular. We have read all the scenarios, so we actually know the final story (laughs).

─ So you read the scenario beforehand in order to write the ending song?

Meilia: Yes. As the story unfolds, the characters' feelings move and grow, so it was good that I was able to write the song after knowing everything about the story. I wonder if this part of the lyrics refers to this scene in this episode. I think you can get a sense of what I'm talking about.

─ ─ What is your impression of "Gunslinger Stratos"?

Meilia: I originally sang the song "Hitomi no LAZhWARD" for the arcade game "Gunslinger Stratos 2," and it was through that connection that GARNiDELiA was asked to sing the ending theme for the anime. The game is a competitive action shooter, but the characters are attractive and I had the impression that there were many female fans.

toku I once went to see a GUNST event where Meilia was performing, and it was very upbeat, and the layers were very strong. We decided to follow that trend and create an anime version, keeping in mind the atmosphere of the game as well.

───That's how "MIRAI" was created, and it turned out to be a gentle ballad.

Meilia: The anime production side asked us to write a ballad about the feelings of the heroine, Kyoka (Katagiri). We were very happy to be able to release a single with a ballad.

toku The three singles we have released since our major debut have all been fast-paced songs, but GARNiDELiA has always been good at slow songs, so I think this time around, people will get to know the true GARNiDELiA.

Meilia: Those of you who have come to our live performances or listened to our first album are probably familiar with GARNiDELiA's ballads, but for those who haven't, I think it will be quite a fresh impression.

This is the gorgeous sound of a ballad.

toku──Maylia's gentle vocals and the lyrics linked to the story are very rewarding to listen to, but the track with many strings also really resonates with me.

toku I asked Ryosuke Nakanishi to arrange the strings. I usually do it myself, but this time I wanted a royal sound that is unique to ballads.

Meilia: It turned out to be a gorgeous ballad, and I was able to sing it with a big heart.

toku The strings are the royal way, but the arrangement of the other instruments and the modulations are quite complex. Gunslinger Stratos" is a story that goes back and forth between two worlds, so I wanted to create a sense of parallelism with the chord arrangements and modulations. Also, since the story takes place in Japan, I consciously used Japanese scales. Listening to the full-size version, I think I was able to express the world of "Gunslinger Stratos" quite well, including the lyrics.

Meilia: As you listen to the song, I wanted you to be surprised. It is a royal ballad, but in terms of sound, there are a few places that catch you off guard. It's a ballad, but there are a few places in the sound where you'll get caught up in the song. If you listen to the full size version, the vocals and the performance get thicker and thicker toward the end of the song, and it has a dramatic development.
