The gap in participation fees between men and women at machicon events held in Akihabara is widening.

Machicon," a large-scale party party, landed in Akihabara in 2012. Initially, the event was held at a typical participation fee (men: 6-7,000 yen/women: 3-4,000 yen), but the price gap between men and women widened as more otaku-oriented events were held. 9,400 yen for men/ 1,900 yen for women became regular from July 2014, and by the end of May 2015, "9,500 yen for men/ free for women" (*) was scheduled. Free" (*) is scheduled for the end of May 2015.

In June, a "Men 8,000 yen / Women Free" (*) event appeared.

For female participants, it will be easier to find financially capable men and find people who are serious, not just for fun, making it easier than ever to participate. On the other hand, for male participants, there is the advantage of "attracting many young women (such as female university students)," but be careful not to end up with women just eating and drinking for free.
