Ghost in the Shell to be adapted into a live-action film followed by a stage production! Based on "Ghost in the Shell ARISE," to be performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space starting November 5.

A stage adaptation of the TV anime "Ghost in the Shell ARISE ALTERNATIVE ARCHITECTURE" currently being broadcast has been announced.

This is a reconstructed version of "Ghost in the Shell ARISE," the latest in the world popular masterpiece science fiction "Ghost in the Shell" series, of which four chapters were screened in theaters from June 2013, with two completely new episodes added. The story is set on the eve of the formation of the Ghost in the Shell, and depicts how the young Motoko Kusanagi came to establish the Ghost in the Shell, a special offensive special forces unit. General director and character design is by Kazuya Kise, series composition by Tow Ubukata, and animation production by Production I.G.

Following the live-action film adaptation in Hollywood by Walt Disney Studios (scheduled for April 14, 2017), a stage adaptation will be made in Japan. The production will be directed by film director Shutaro Oku, who also directed the "Persona" stage series and "BLOOD-C: The LAST MIND," and written by "Ghost in the Shell ARISE" supervisor Junichi Fujisaki, who also wrote the script for "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Like "Ghost in the Shell ARISE," it tells the story of the eve of the formation of the Ghost in the Shell and will be performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space Playhouse from November 5 to 15, 2015. Scarlett Johansson plays Motoko Kusanagi in the Hollywood live-action film, but one wonders who will play her on stage. Performers and ticket information will be announced in due course.

Due to the special visual effects, there will be no DVD, live viewing, or other visualization. The only way to see it is to visit the theater.
