Love Live the Movie! The Movie" grossed over 400 million yen in the first two days of its first week! No.1 in the box-office ranking

The School Idol Movie," an anime movie released on June 13, has announced that its box-office revenue for the first two days of its release has surpassed 400 million yen.

Love Live! is an anime work that depicts nine girls' idol activities to save their alma mater "Otonokizaka Gakuin" from the danger of being closed down. Otonokizaka Gakuin is a "traditional school located between Akihabara, Kanda, and Jimbocho," and the background of the story is based on real places such as Kanda Myojin, UDX, Shoheibashi, and Takemura, a sweet shop. The second TV season began airing in April 2014, and the enthusiastic fans, called "love-lovers," became a hot topic of conversation in various parts of the country. The School Idol Movie," which was released on June 13 as a completely new movie, depicts how the girls, who had decided to end their activities following the graduation of their third year, take on the challenge of a new live performance.

The theatrical version was released in 121 theaters nationwide and recorded 251,811 moviegoers on Saturday and Sunday of the first week. The box-office revenue was 400,235,800 yen, ranking first in box-office revenue, ahead of other major films released on the same day such as "Umimachi diary" (opened in 323 theaters). With word-of-mouth promotion and a large number of repeat viewers, further box-office growth can be expected.

Reviews and impressions of the film have already been posted on "Anipota" operated by Akiba Research Institute.
