Laputa: Castle in the Sky", the small airplane of the aerial pirates, "Flapter", has been made into a figure! Elaborate model with 4 wings flapping gimmick!
Bandai will release the "Castle in the Sky: Souzou Galleria Flapter" figure in November.
This is a 120mm front-to-back (maximum wingspan of 421mm) figure of the "Flapter," a small flying machine that appears as a means of transportation for Dora's family of air pirates, led by Dora, from the classic animated film "Laputa: Castle in the Sky," produced by Ghibli. The machine played an active role in the scene where the hero Pazoo and the Dora family go to rescue the heroine Sita, who is taken prisoner in the fortress, and many fans may have fond memories of this scene. The "four flapping wings," the most distinctive feature of this machine, swing alternately. The unique insect-like flight of the wings can be reproduced as in the movie. The instruments, headlight, and nozzle are equipped with a light-emitting gimmick. These can be operated with the switch box pedestal that also serves as a display stand. The four toggle switches are designed to resemble airplane control rods, and each emits light when the toggle switches are turned on.
The design of the main body emphasizes the form of the airplane in the movie, while incorporating original elements in terms of details and equipment, and the cockpit portion is designed with an emphasis on reality. A shift lever, a rear belt to support the body during flight, and a winch to connect the fuselage have been added to the design to give a sense of supporting functions. In addition, a new headlight, which was not placed in the play, has been placed, assuming that it is a necessary function for night flight as an aerial pirate. In addition, the base of the wing parts are included in two versions, one for flight and the other for landing. The wings can be folded down to recreate a compact form that fits in the narrow hangar of the Tiger Moth.
The price is 12,960 yen. Pre-orders will be accepted at Bandai's official shopping site "Premium Bandai" (http://p-bandai.jp/?rt=pr) and other sites from 1:00 p.m. on June 17, and will be closed when the number of pre-orders is reached. The already released "Robot Soldier" version with built-in blue LED will also be available for order on June 17 at 1:00 p.m.
