Live-action Patlabor adds 27 minutes of previously unseen footage to the feature-length theatrical version! Director's Cut version to be released nationwide on October 10

From THE NEXT GENERATION PATLABOR, the live-action version of the classic anime "Mobile Police Patlabor," it was announced that the director's cut version of the feature-length theatrical version will be released nationwide on October 10.


→Live-action Patlabor, seven chapters will be screened at events starting in April 2014! Completely original new "THE NEXT GENERATION PATLABOR".

The film, which has attracted attention for its total production cost of 2.2 billion yen, including the 8-meter-long life-size Type 98 Ingram and the fully realized Section 2 building with a Laberdog, will start with Chapter 1 (Episodes 0-1) on April 5, 2014, followed by the final Chapter 7 (Episode 12, "The Great Legacy") on January 10, 2015. The Great Legacy"). Then, on May 1, 2015, the feature-length theatrical version "THE NEXT GENERATION PATLABOR: Capital Decisive Battle" was released.

At the request of Mamoru Oshii, who directed and wrote the screenplay for the film, the entire feature-length theatrical version has been edited and will be released nationwide on October 10 as a director's cut version with 27 minutes of new footage. The mystery surrounding the terrorist Haibara Zero, who controls the combat helicopter "Gray Ghost," whose true identity has remained a mystery, and the depiction of the Special Vehicle Section 2 members involved in a life-and-death battle have been added to this new 119-minute version, making the colors of Oshii's work even clearer.


The poster visual for the director's cut version, which has been released, is a complete change from the previous poster that emphasized the robot action element, with Ingram, who has consistently been the main character in the film, only reflected in Zero Haibara's goggles. Instead, the main character is Zero Haibara, whom Mr. Oshii says is "the character that symbolizes the modern era and that I was most particular about creating this time. She is a cybernetic figure, reminiscent of Motoko Kusanagi, and is shown in the film with the dangerous words* "Who are you? (*), she approaches Ingram fearlessly from the cockpit.
