Nagashi Somen Festival in the middle of Akihabara! Three members of the Ostrich Club also participated, but their attempt to set a Guinness record for "the most people caught in a row" failed.

Kirin Beer sponsored a nagashi somen (flowing somen noodles) tournament, "Wai Wai is Good! Minna de Nagashi Somen Stadium" was held in Akihabara.

Kirin Brewery held a Nagashi Somen Tournament at Bellesalle Akihabara on June 20/21! Also challenging the Guinness record for "the most people caught in a row!

As previously reported, this is a sales promotion project for Kirin's "Nodogoshi <Nama>," which has become a regular event. As in the previous year, one giant and three small Nagashi Somen stands were set up at Bellesalle Akihabara, the venue of the event. For a participation fee of 200 yen, participants could enjoy a bottle of Nodogoshi Nama and Nagashi Somen (*Not all-you-can-eat, but a fixed amount). On the 21st, a Guinness World Record attempt will be made for "Most people catching flowing noodles consecutively" (i.e., the largest number of people who have caught flowing noodles consecutively).

On the first day of the event, the 20th, the hot weather did not help, but the event was so popular that people were lining up even before the doors opened. The event was especially popular among foreign tourists, who were seen taking commemorative photos at the photo booth and posting them on Twitter and other social media.

The event will be held from 12:00 to 20:00 on both days.

[Postscript]

On the 21st, the Ostrich Club appeared as guests. A total of 123 people, including 120 general participants and 3 members of the Ostrich Club, took part in the challenge. The Guinness record now stands at 110 participants. The first challenge failed by the 9th person (out because he/she was waiting with chopsticks in the water) and the second by the 45th person (out because he/she could not catch the noodles and dip any of them in the sauce). The third and final challenge ended in failure for the first person, Mr. Higo of the Ostrich Club (out because he could not catch and dip any of the noodles in the sauce). Here is what he had to say.

On his enthusiasm for the challenge
 Mr. Ueshima
(In response to Mr. Terakado and Mr. Higo's question about whether I could catch the noodles properly) I can at least catch them! Let's work together to achieve it! Let's get together and make sure we all make it!
 Terakado-san.
Aren't everyone's eyes dead from nerves? Are you okay? Sometimes we get nervous and can't do things that we can always do normally, so let's relax this time. It's better to have fun with these things! Let's have fun, everyone!
 Mr. Higo.
Most importantly, because it's the beginning, if we fail, the challenge is over. That makes me surprisingly nervous. I will relax and do my best!

Hajime Kishiryushiki Ceremony
 Mr. Ueshima.
Isn't that boiling water flowing? I don't like it! You do it! Don't be silly! (Higo-san, Terakado-san, I'll do it then! Please, please, please, please," Ueshima-san said, eating the somen noodles! If it tastes so good, you shouldn't have said it was hot water in the first place. (Stomping his feet, the audience bursts into laughter at the gag you all fly by.)
 Mr. Arco & Peace.
I had no idea that so many people were having so much fun and enjoying themselves, and that there was so much enthusiasm and tension. After this, I will work hard behind the scenes to liven up the Challengers!

After the Challenge
 Mr. Higo
Did I do something wrong? Oh, really?
 Mr. Ueshima.
I know I said I wouldn't blame anyone this time, but let me just say this. You've got to get your act together! You're a celebrity! When I went back to the back, I said, "I got one! Thank God!" but there wasn't a single noodle in it!
 Mr. Higo.
But we all had a good time, didn't we? It's okay, as long as it was wai-wai!
