The story is set in the 50th anniversary of the death of Edogawa Rampo, a master of Japanese mystery novels, and is based on his various works. The story centers on a genius high school detective named Akechi, who is allowed to leave school by the Imperial Household Agency for helping solve unusual crime cases. This time, a character drawing of "Kaijin Nijumenso," a representative character from Edogawa Rampo's bestselling Detective Boys series and an important character in the title of the work, has been released. The Phantom with Twenty Faces appears in this work as an important character who holds the key to the story. He is an unidentified criminal who ignores the law and brings evil to justice, causing a series of incidents that cause a stir in the world, and the main character, Akechi, continues to pursue the truth behind these incidents.
