Trilogy "Ajin", a feature film animation trilogy, comments from the staff! The film is "a modern action movie made in Hollywood" and "the use of space is like a Hollywood movie."

Staff comments from the anime film "Ajin" have been released.

Ajin" is an animated feature film based on the manga series by Sakurai Gamon, serialized in Good! Polygon Pictures, which won worldwide acclaim for "Knights of Sidonia," will produce a trilogy of films. General director is Hiroyuki Seshimo of "Knights of Sidonia," director is Hiroaki Ando of "Short Peace," and series composition is by Koji Seko of "Seraph of the End. The science fiction suspense film features Kei Nagai, a high school boy who dies instantly in a car accident, but is revived immediately afterward and turns out to be an "subhuman," an unknown new creature that can never die.

The film is about the battle between the Ajin, who are being hunted by all of mankind, and humans, who see them only as objects of research.

General director: Hiroyuki Seshimo ("Knights of Sidonia," "Final Fantasy")
The original story is interesting. I was drawn in. Sato has such an overwhelming presence that he swallows the main character Kei. His actions and fighting power are so appealing that it is beyond fear and even makes me yearn for him. Their exploits, breathless suspense and action are recreated with the dynamism and realism only possible in anime. Please look forward to it!

Director: Hiroaki Ando ("Knights of Sidonia: The Battle of the Ninth Planet," "SHORT PEACE (GAMBO)")
The speed and spatial realism of this original work is so appealing that it is almost as if you are watching a foreign painting. This is an animated version of the original work. I would like to visualize it without diminishing its charm with pictures and sounds that are full of speed and power. Kei is tossed about by a sudden fate, and Kaito helps him. Tosaki and his team, the spearheads of society, are in pursuit of the subhumans. And then there is Sato, the giant enemy of the subhuman race, who is toying with both of them. Please watch how Kei, who is a modern-day child, fights against his destiny in this three-way situation.

Series Composition: Koji Seko ("Shinkage no Kyojin," "Zankin no Terror")
A manga inspired by modern Hollywood action movies from the 1980s onward, such as "Die Hard," "The Rock," "The Bourne Identity," and "Kamikaze Yakuza A Team: The Movie" - that was my first impression of "Ajin" when I first read it. That was my first impression when I read "Ajin" for the first time. After meeting with Mr. Sakurai, the author of the manga, and hearing his story, I was convinced that my impression was not mistaken. In other words, we decided to take the Hollywood action movie that so many men have longed to see and set it in modern Japan. The battle between the subhumans will not take place in the Warring States Period, in the near future, in outer space, or in another world, but in the very Japan we are living in right now. The character "S" might say, "How are you doing? "Well, isn't this exciting? I hope you like it.

Production Designer: Naoya Tanaka ("Knights of Sidonia," "Princess Mononoke")
The biggest challenge in designing the worldview for "Ajin" was how to develop the suspenseful image of the original story into a stage.... The sunset is as beautiful as ever, but the moment Kei becomes a subhuman, everything turns dark. How does he escape his pursuers and how does he survive as an "subhuman"? We hope you enjoy the action and suspense that unfolds in a landscape reminiscent of impressionist art.

Character Designer: Yuki Moriyama ("Knights of Sidonia", "Street Fighter x Tekken")
The battles and tactics that make the most of the fact that the characters are subhumans take my breath away every time I see them! When you die, you will understand." What a terrifying worldview, so easy to understand that you will simply be drawn in, and I hope I can convey the tension and conflicts of the characters moving in such a situation. I hope that fans of the original work, as well as many other people, will watch the film! It is important to note that Mr. Sato is surprisingly macho. Izumi is a very attractive character, and I hope you will observe her well in the film.

Sculpting Director: Mitsunori Katanori ("Howl's Moving Castle" and "Spirited Away")
I was fascinated by the meticulously rendered modern landscape of the original work and the presence of IBM, which I had never seen before. As for my own work, I work on modeling and directing the 3D models with the hope that the characters will be attractive and persuasive when they move. Since this is a modern object, I aim to make sure that even the smallest details are true, so that the audience will find the model "worth believing in!

Art Director: Hiroshi Takiguchi ("The Hana to Alice Murder Case" and "The Garden of Words")
I have never had such a different impression of a work before and after reading it. To be honest, I was a little reluctant to read a suspense manga, but surprisingly even I got into it and enjoyed it. In terms of art, the use of space is very Hollywood-like and gives the work a great sense of scale. The art team has put the utmost effort into the visualization of this work. I think you will experience an unprecedented sense of fulfillment. I hope many people will enjoy it.

Color designer: Hirono Noji ("Knights of Sidonia" and "Knights of Sidonia: The Battle of the Ninth Planet")
When I read the original story, I thought it was interesting that you don't know if you are a subhuman or not until you die. I created the IBM and the colors of the characters so as not to destroy the atmosphere of the original work. I would be happy if you could pay attention to the colors of each scene, which are beautifully done. I am sure that many staff members worked hard to make this an interesting work that will satisfy fans of the original work as well as anime fans, so please look forward to it.

Director: Akio Shikazumi ("Transformers Prime" and "Ronja the Bandit's Daughter")
When I read the original work, which takes a fresh approach to the eternal theme of "immortality," I was drawn in by the overwhelming sense of suspense. I was very lucky to be drawn into the work by the overwhelming power of Director Seshita and to be involved in it. I may be a bum for sympathizing with the main character who is called a bum...(sweat). But I am sure that everyone can relate to him in some way. I hope I can deliver to you such a mysteriously attractive protagonist and overwhelming sense of suspense.

Ryomo ("Yozakura Shijeto," "Tetsuwan Birdie 02 DECODE")
Hello, my name is Ryomo, and I am the director. I will do my best to make this film. My impression of the original is that it is a fantasy involving the military and the police! Here it comes. I'm excited to see how we can show it. I am very excited. It is a work with a lot of hard developments, so we are challenging ourselves with various psychological warfare behaviors. Please look forward to it.

Keisuke Ide ("Transformers: Robots Indies Guys" and "Transformers Prime")
I am very happy with the great response to the teaser, but I am also feeling the pressure of adapting a popular manga into a film. Since the original manga is still being serialized, the second half of the anime version is an original story, and some of the dialogue and acting have been changed from the original to make the characters' personalities stand out, so I think people who have not read the original manga as well as those who have read the original manga will enjoy the anime.

CG Supervisor: Takeshi Iwata ("Ronja the Bandit's Daughter")
This work is not horror or science fiction, but suspense. By visualizing the suspense with a documentary touch, I hope to portray the charm of the original story with a dynamic expression that only 3D can provide, not with "realism" but with "reality.

Yuuki Mizoguchi ("Ronja the Bandit's Daughter," "Transformers: Prime")
I believe that "Transformers Prime" is an exceptional work that combines the unique characterization of the main character, action, suspense, and fantasy at a high level, and as a CG company, I am constantly striving to create the visuals that fans and those who have not read the original work will appreciate. The entire theater trilogy is a series of climaxes. Please look forward to it.

Susumu Sugai ("Knights of Sidonia")
I will do my best to make everyone enjoy this film adaptation of the hit comic!

Sound Director: Miwa Iwanami ("PSYCHO-PASS: Psycho-Pass 2", "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders")
My secret theme for the past 20 years has been to create "sound with blood" in CG images. I believe that "Ajin" will be a work in which I will put all of my skills, knowledge, and experience to the test. The best materials are already in place. All that remains is to create the best sound. Please look forward to it. I hope you will like it.

Music: Yugo Kanno ("PSYCHO-PASS: Psycho-Pass 2," "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders")
I was shocked and excited from the moment I read the manga, so I was very happy when I heard that I would be in charge of this project. Ideas kept popping into my head, and I felt as if I was experimenting with them. I enjoyed composing the music through trial and error, trying to figure out how I could leave the impact of "Ajin" in the music as well. I think it is the most sickening and coolest music I have ever composed. I hope you will enjoy "Ajin" with your own ears as well!
