From the TV anime "Gakko Gurashi! has released the voice actors' comments after the recording of the first episode.

Gakko Gurashi! is an anime work based on a manga serialized in Manga Time Kirara Forward. It is a survival horror story about a group of girls who sleep in a school and fight for survival in a zombie-infested town, depicting heartwarming school life and battles for survival with a cute touch. Directed by Masaomi Ando, series composition by the original author Norimitsu Kaiho (Nitroplus), character design by Haruko Iizuka, and animation production by Larke.

In conjunction with the end of the first episode's broadcast, comments from the voice actors after the recording of the first episode were released. Inori Minase who plays Yuki Jouyari, Arie Ozawa who plays Kurumi Ebisuzawa, M.A.O. who plays Yuri Wakasa, Riyo Takahashi who plays Miki Naoki, and Ai Chino who plays Ji Sakura commented on their experiences from the audition to the show.

--M.A.O.: Were you familiar with the original work?

Mizuse: I knew that "Gakko Gurashi! I imagined at first that it would be a soft and relaxing work, since "Gakko" was written in hiragana. I thought it would be about the daily life of fluffy girls, or rather, "I don't want to go home from school! I thought it would be a work like ......, where the girls are so close that they spend happy days together.

--I was thinking that it would be like , where everyone gets along so well that they don't want to go home from school!

Mizuse: Yes, I was shocked when I read the original work. The pictures are cute, but there are scenes that are a bit horrifying. The gap between the two was the first thing that got me.
Ozawa The title "Gakko Gurashi! and Yuki's illustrations. I thought she had a cute atmosphere, but her clothes were rather tattered, and I wondered what kind of fun she had at school. I wondered what kind of games they were playing at school (laughs).

--I see (laughs).

(laughs). Ozawa That's how I auditioned for the role. ...... Yuki is rather relaxed all the time, but the other characters have a lot of grim expressions on their faces. I was surprised because my initial image of Yuki was completely different from what was inside her.
M・A・O, like everyone else, I thought it would be an everyday, four-panel comic-style story. When I saw the original story during the audition, I thought, "This is not the everyday life I know!

M・A・O "Gakko Gurashi! I thought, "This is what "kurashi" in "Gakko Gurashi!
Takahashi: I read the original story before I read the audition draft. So, I looked at the cover first. There was a girl with pink hair, and it was called "Gakkou Gurashi! so I thought, "This must be a cute pop story. しかもページをめくると、由紀ちゃんがスースー寝てて「あぁ、癒される～！」 I thought, "Oh, it's so soothing!

--I knew it (laughs).

Takahashi: At first, I didn't know what was going on, so I had to start reading again from the beginning.I remember going back to the pageseveral times.
Chino: When I heard about the project, the first thing I did was visit the official website. And I thought, "Wow, a cute girl is smiling and looking happy. I thought casually, "I'm playing the role of a teacher in this kind of work, it looks like fun" (laughs). Later, when I looked at the audition materials, I saw that there were some serious scenes, and I had a feeling that I wasn't just a flustered teacher.

--So you had a hunch (laughs).

Chino: So I decided to read the original work first, ....... I was surprised to find that the contents and the cover were completely different (laughs). It had a stronger sense of survival than I had imagined, and I realized that I shouldn't be fooled by appearances.

--I see (laughs). So, the first episode has just aired. Were there any scenes that caught your attention?

Takahashi: Oh, Mi-kun was hated by Taromaru! (laughs). (Laughs) That part was not depicted in the original story, so I didn't expect him to hate me. ...... Furthermore, the role of Taromaru was played by my senior, Emiri Kato, and she was so cute even though she was "pfft! She was so cute even though she was just "pouting" (laughs). (Laughs). That was a discovery of the anime.
Chino: In the first episode, Taromaru is quite active. And his reactions and expressions are all cute (laughs). And then there is the end. I wonder how people who watched the episode without knowing anything about it would have received it. If I had played the role without reading the original, I would probably have been quite shocked.
Mizuse: If you only listen to the sound, it's just a normal, everyday story, like the story of chasing and finding a missing dog (......), but the information that comes through your eyes is completely different. The world Yuki sees is different from the world everyone else sees. The moment when we finally realize this is a horrifying moment. There is a sense of fear that is present in the cuteness, a feeling that is creeping up on you.
Chino: It's more like "horrified" than "scared. And I wonder what is going to happen next. I'm really curious about what's going to happen next.
Ozawa I can't help but peek through the cracks of my fingers and say, "I still want to see it! I want to see.
Chino: I think your image of Yuki will change a lot. I wonder if she's going to be okay. I'm worried about her.
Takahashi: And she closes the window with a smile on her face. ...... That's the scariest part (laughs).
Chino: In addition, the wind will blow after that. I think to myself, "The window didn't close properly! I think to myself.
M・A・O Even if you read the original work and know what to expect, when that last scene comes, you think, "We've finally come this far ....... Also, there is something a little weird about the scenery up to that point. You can't see it well because it's out of focus, but there are broken glass windows and so on. When I watched it again after noticing it, I thought, "Oh, there it is! (laughs).

--(laughs). In that sense, it makes you want to watch the film again after you have seen it through to the end.

Ozawa: I am interested in Ri-san. She doesn't talk much in the film, so I wonder what she is really thinking. I was curious to know what kind of problems she was having and how she was accepting them.
Chino: She seems to have the most darkness in her life (laughs). She doesn't talk about her problems with others.
Ozawa That's right! The person who never talks and always watches over everyone is the one who is most in trouble when he/she is alone.
M.A.O.: She probably keeps important things in a safe place (laughs). Chino: I think I would have to go with Yuki. She is the main character, and her smile is so cute. I would also like to hear how each character felt in certain scenes. I would like to hear each character's story in a special video or something.
Takahashi: The work is based on the daily lives of the girls, and although they are all working toward the same goal, they all have different ways of perceiving the events that occur in their lives. I would be happy if you could see that part of the story.

--Lastly, I would like to invite you all to try some of the kanpan that was mentioned in the film. ......

Ozawa: I haven't had kanpan since when. ......
Chino: Didn't they give them out at school?
Ozawa They did! For study.
Mizuse I have never eaten it. ......
