Red Light Bullet Girion" BD-BOX to be released in September! Masterpiece SF animation with the participation of current Production I.G mainstay members and Kyoto Animation

The TV anime "Akai Hikaridan Girion" will be adapted to Blu-ray and released as a BD-BOX on September 25.


Akai Hikaridan Girion" is a masterpiece SF anime produced by Tatsunoko Productions and broadcast in 1987 on the Nippon Television network. Set on a colonized planet under attack by aliens, the story depicts three young men who are entrusted with the ray gun Zillion by an unknown supercivilization and become members of a special forces unit to take on difficult missions. Many of the current Production I.G mainstays, including Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and Takayuki Goto, are involved in the project, and Kyoto Animation is participating as a production partner.

The BD-BOX, which is now available for purchase, contains all 31 episodes of the TV series and the OVA "Akai Hikaridan Girion Utahime Yagyoku" (Red Light Bullet Girion: Utahime Night Song). The three-sided back box was designed by Takayuki Goto, and the digipak was drawn by Hirotsugu Hamasaki and Kazuya Kise. Included are bonus videos (Eimi Penguins Diary, etc.), audio commentary (by Toshihiko Seki, Kazuhiko Inoue, Yuko Mizutani, Toshi Hayami, Mizuho Nishikubo), booklet, duplicate scenario book, storyboard book (OP + episode 31), and more. The booklet includes interviews with Mizuho Nishikubo (chief director), Masayori Sekijima (literary composition), Takayuki Goto (character design), Hiroshi Ogawa (mechanical design), Mitsuhisa Ishikawa (production producer), Motoki Ueda (planning coordinator), and roundtable discussions (Hirotsugu Hamasaki x Hiroyuki Okiura x Kazuya Kise).


The price is 38,000 yen plus tax. As a first-come, first-served bonus, a color reproduction of an illustration by Takayuki Goto will be provided.
