Edegger Tux March Ecute Kanda-Mansebashi opens on September 5! Austrian royal warrant bakery lands in Japan for the first time!

A bakery-cafe called "Hof Beccalai Eddeger Tucks March Ecute Kanda-Mansebashi" will open on September 5. It will be located in the S3 section of March Ecute Kanda-Mansebashi.

Hof Beccalai Eddeger Tacks is the oldest bakery in Graz, Austria, which is registered as a World Heritage site, and is said to have been in business as early as the 14th century. Most of the recipes, including the "Handkaiser" eaten by the emperor and the "Sissy Bussel," a pastry dedicated to Queen Elisabeth, wife of Franz Joseph I, are said to be the same as when the Habsburgs bestowed the title of "royal purveyor" on the bakery in 1888.

The long-established bakery, which had never left the city of Graz, let alone abroad, chose Kanda, Japan, as the location for its first global entry. The owner, Robert Edegger, who has a strong desire to spread the tradition of Viennese pastries not as a trend but as a culture to other cultures outside of Europe, liked Kanda, where many long-established shops are rooted in traditional culture, and the historic and dignified red-brick viaduct of the March Ecute. The opening of the new store was made possible by his fondness for the red brick viaduct in Kanda, where many long-established stores are located and traditional culture is deeply rooted.

The March Ecute Kanda-Mansebashi store offers not only bread made from the traditional recipe sold at the main store, but also bread and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch as Japan-only products. Takahiko Nozawa, owner-chef of the Viennese pastry "Neues," was appointed by Mr. Edegger and will recreate the same taste of the main store in Japan based on the recipe he received directly from Mr. Edegger.
