Mobile Suit V Gundam" unveils new illustrations for BD-BOX Volume 2! Inner jacket illustration by Yoh Yoshinari and Toshihiro Kawamoto

An illustration of the inner jacket of the second volume of the BD-BOX from the TV anime "Mobile Suit V Gundam" has been revealed.

Mobile Suit V Gundam", the last "Space Century Gundam" TV series by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Gundam, was broadcast from April 1993 to March 1994. 13-year-old Uso, one of the youngest characters in the series, grows up while facing the absurd reality of war. The series is known to have an extremely divided reputation among Gundam fans, partly because of its depiction of nationalism and cruelty against a religious background.

The newly-drawn inner jacket illustration for BD-BOX Volume 2 (scheduled for release on September 25), which contains episodes 27-51, has been completed. The illustrations are by Yoh Yoshinari, who was a young animator when "Mobile Suit V Gundam" was broadcast, and Toshihiro Kawamoto, a character designer for "Mobile Suit Gundam 0083" and "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Platoon". Mr. Yoshinari focuses on the mechanicals, while Mr. Kawamoto puts the characters front and center.

In addition, a select screening and talk show of "Mobile Suit V Gundam" will be held at the screening event "Sunrise Festival 2015 Hakunanpu" at Shinjuku Piccadilly on September 1, starting at 9:00 p.m. The event will be held at the same location.
