Ryoichi Tanaka and Shintaro Asanuma, who play Devilman/Akira Fudo, Kazuhiko Inoue, who plays Joe Shimamura (009), and M.A.O., who plays Françoise Arnould (003), took the stage to shake hands with the audience, who had not yet lost their excitement after the screening of "Cyborg 009" Episode 20 and "Devilman" Episode 4. They took the stage and shook hands firmly with each other. They then talked about past episodes and their thoughts on the "Cyborg 009 VS Devilman" project.

■Past episodes

Tanaka For "Devilman," there was no audition; I was just told to go and play Devilman. I was happy because it was the main role, but now I think that if I had worked a little harder, it would have been more popular. There was an evil-looking guy named Akira Fudo, and I enjoyed playing that for me.

Inoue: I had an audition. Everyone who was playing the lead role at the time was auditioning, but director Ryosuke Takahashi said, "Well, bring in any newcomer you can. Before the audition, I had to say the name of the agency, the name of the role, and my name, and I said, "I'm going to play Joe Shimamura. I'm Inoue from Aoni Productions. Before I could even say my lines, the director said, "That's it, Inoue-kun, it's Joe Shimamura. After that, nothing was said, but when I went home, I kept saying, "I'm Kazuhiko Inoue, I'm playing Shimamura Joe" (laughs).

Asanuma: I remember watching the "Devil Man" anime series in morning reruns when I was little. I have the impression that all the anime reruns in the morning at that time were scary. Like "Gegege no Kitaro." I remember getting up early to watch them even though I thought they were scary. Cyborg 009" is still stylish today. I remember when I was a little kid playing with it, everyone was fighting over 009 and 004.

M. A. O. When I heard that I had been chosen to play Françoise, I sat up. But I really thought that I should not destroy what many people had built up in Françoise, so I stood up from there and straightened my back. I had a stomach ache for several days before entering the recording studio, but everyone was kind and gave me advice and encouragement. The "Cyborg 009" anime series has soft or warm pictures, which makes me feel at ease when I watch it.

Thoughts on "Cyborg 009 VS Devilman"
Tanaka When I saw the video of "Cyborg 009 VS Devilman," I thought it was amazing that the voices of Akira Fudo and Devilman were done by different people, but they were the same (Asanuma). I thought I had changed it, but I hadn't, so it's amazing.

Asanuma: The side characters on Devilman's side in "Cyborg 009 VS Devilman" are full of Showa-era atmosphere. Characters wearing such school uniforms nowadays, Miki pulling Akira's ear off, and so on. I thought I should leave the stylishness to the 009 side and let the Devilman side take care of the wildness and nostalgia (laughs).

Inoue: When I heard about "Cyborg 009 vs. I was surprised. Actually, I was shown it first, and I know what happens next, but it's amazing. Please look forward to it!

Tanaka I am very grateful that "Devilman" still remains in your hearts after 45 years and that you are still supporting me like this. I will continue to do my best.

Asanuma: I am very proud to be involved in such a big and festive work, and to be watched over by my seniors, who are pushing me to do my best. I hope that those who have enjoyed "009" and "Devil Man" up to now, as well as those who are new to this work, will enjoy this work, and I hope that you will not miss any of the three episodes.

M・A・O I am truly honored to be a part of a work that has been loved by so many people for so many years. During the postrecording, I was able to hold many things in my heart as I played the role with great care. There are wonderful scenes and heated scenes, so I hope you will enjoy watching it in the theater.
