Melodic Super Hard Cure, the first new Melodic Cure in 10 years. There is a lot of love here!
Melocure, a vocal unit consisting of Ritsuko Okazaki and Megumi Hyuga (meg rock), has released a new CD for the first time in 10 years. This 2-CD set consists of all songs released to date, remastered and recorded, plus 8 newly recorded songs, including a new song. The production team includes Mito from Clammbon, kz (livetune), Atsushi Suemitsu, Tatsuya Nishiwaki, and many other creators, and the album is filled with "melodic love" in every aspect, making it a work that will bring tears to the eyes of fans. In addition, a solo live concert will be held in September to celebrate the release. We asked Megumi Hinata, who is at the center of everything, to talk about the current MeloCure. We also introduce her FitEar discussion with audio & visual writer Kenji Nomura.
I have to take responsibility as a member of Melocure
─ ─ "Melodic Super Hard Cure" is a 2-disc set, and disc 1 is basically a remastered version of Melocure's first album "Melodic Hard Cure" released in 2004. The bonus track "Agapē [Water Planet version]" is included in disc 2, and in its place is the single "Home & Away," which was released the year after the album.
Hinata: Yes, we put all the original songs together for disc 1. It's not often that we get a chance to remaster our own work, so I was just amazed at how much the sound had changed, and it was refreshing to hear the feedback from the staff members who were involved in the production of Melodic Cure for the first time this time around. I was also impressed by the staff members who were involved in the production of Melodicure for the first time. (laughs).
─ ─ It's a fresh question that transcends the 11 years that have passed (laughs).
Hyuga: Now that you mention it again, I realize that even the song order has been messed around with by Melo Cure (laughs). After 13 years, the staff and listeners have all come to MeloCure at different points in their lives, and that's why there is no one right answer for everyone. There is no one right answer for everyone. For example, there was a moment in the making of the song "Home & Away" when I realized that the way people perceive the song differs from person to person.
───The song "Home & Away" was produced almost two years apart from the CD release, wasn't it?
Hinata: In terms of the timing of the release, it is the only one away from the flow up to "Melodic Hard Cure". I was thinking that since the song was not on the album, there might be some listeners who didn't know about it, but when we were deciding on songs for the music box campaign for this album, "Home & Away" was one of the candidates after "Agapē" and "1st Priority". When we were deciding on a song for the music box campaign, one of the staff members suggested "Home & Away" as a candidate after "Agapē" and "1st Priority. This person had been listening to MeloCure since junior high school, or at least since his impressionable age, and he had "grown up with MeloCure. I thought I understood the significance of the single released a year after the album for the listeners, but perhaps I didn't.
─ ─ I think the release of "Home & Away" was a big deal for Melocure fans.
Hinata: At the time, I was just so busy releasing the song that I realized how much everyone had cherished listening to "Home & Away". At that time, as a member of MEROCURE, I felt I had to take responsibility. If it is MeloCure that makes a mess, then I must continue to make a mess in the future. As I have been saying "I will be MeloCure for the rest of my life," I wanted to continue singing MeloCure's songs.
Disc 2 is filled with only my favorites!
─ ─ "Make a mess" is the keyword for this "Melodic Super Hard Cure," isn't it? You said so at the in-store live performance, and I have the impression that the work was produced with very free ideas.
Hyuga: It was a lot of fun. I often say that "disc 1 was filled with only happiness, and disc 2 was filled with only my favorite things," and it became a work overflowing with the "love of Melodicua" of everyone who was involved. I hope that this CD, which contains my favorites and the favorites of the people who participated, will also become the favorites of the listeners.
─ ─ I felt that the rearrangements made by various people were varied and had a sound of 2015. Only "Agapē" by Mito and kz is a remix.
Hinata: There was an incident with Mito-san where we initially asked him to rearrange the song, but he changed it to a remix halfway through the process (laughs). (Laughs) When we were discussing the rearrangement first, Mito-san said that it might be a good idea to ask kz-kun for the rhythm and sparkling elements. kz-kun and I have worked together on songs together, and we are also good friends in our private lives.
─ So, with the addition of Mr. kz, the rearrangement became a remix.
Hinata: I think it all started with the session data we provided for the production. I gave it to Mito with the intention of "using this vocal data for the rearrangement," but I think Mito-san read too much into the meaning of the session data I gave him.
─ I heard that there are 60 vocal tracks in "Agapē".
Hinata: I also gave him the data for the [switched edition], in which the main and chorus parts are in opposite patterns, so that's double the number of tracks. In Mito-san and kz-kun's remix, Harichan and I have a high unison ratio. Both the main vocals and the chorus.
It was "Agapē" with multiplicity and even more transparency.
