Shogi manga "March Lion" to be adapted into TV anime and live-action film! Latest work by Chika Umino of "Honey and Clover

The TV anime and live-action film adaptation of "March Lion" have been announced.


March Lion" is a manga work serialized in Young Animal since 2007 by Chika Umino, who is well known for "Hachimitsu to Clover," which has also been made into a TV anime. It is a love story about a lonely 17-year-old professional Shogi player who lost his family in an accident when he was a child, and how he opens his heart to his three sisters when he meets them. Volume 11, released on September 25, is also the focus of the "March Lion x 11 Professionals" campaign, featuring Zenji Hanyu Meijin (Oza, Oza, Kisei), Tetsuro Itoya (Dragon King), Akira Watanabe (Ki King), Masataka Gouda (Osho), Koji Tanikawa 9-dan, Toshiyuki Moriuchi 9-dan, Kazumi Kato 9-dan, Manabu Sasaki 9-dan, Hisashi Kata 8-dan, Akito Hirose 8-dan, and Masayuki Toyoshima 7-dan.


The TV anime and live-action film adaptation was announced in the opening color of the September 25, 2015 issue of Young Animal. Further news will also be announced in the magazine and on the web.
