Mobile Suit Gundam Mobile Suit (Mobile Armor) Popularity Poll" results announced! What a surprise, the first place went to that zakomecha!
Akiba Research Institute's anime portal "Anipota" has been conducting the "Mobile Suit Gundam Mobile Suit (Mobile Armor) Popularity Poll" since August 28, 2015, and the poll was closed on September 27. Here are the results of the voting.
This poll asked users to vote for the most popular Mobile Suits and Mobile Armor from among the many Mobile Suits and Mobile Armor that appeared in the so-called "First Gundam" (Mobile Suit Gundam). This includes, of course, the Gundam and other mecha of the Federation Forces as well as those of the Principality of Zeon.
Among the many mecha in the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, the Zaku II (MS-06) (81 votes) took first place, beating out all the other strong mecha in the series! The "Zaku II" is a so-called mass-produced mobile suit of the Zeon army, or in other words, a "Zaku" that is a "Zakomecha" (the "old Zaku" that appears only briefly in the work is called the "Zaku I"). (The "Zaku I" is the "old Zaku" that appears briefly in the work.) Of course, when "Mobile Suit Gundam" was broadcast, it was simply called "Zaku," and the "Zaku II" was added later, but the "Zaku II" was later seen in the Gunpla world as the most familiar, yet actually cool mass-produced model, with various improved versions appearing. It is also seen as the most familiar, yet actually cool mass-produced model. It is believed that this fan mentality was responsible for the high level of support for this model.
Following the "Zaku II (MS-06)" came the "Char Gelgoog (MS-14S)" (72 votes) in second place. The "Gelgoog" was a mobile suit of the Zeon army introduced in the latter half of the One Year War, and the red-painted Gelgoog for Char seems to have been very popular as a very cool mobile suit since its first broadcast. Naturally, it was also quite popular in the Gunpla world, and although it lost to the "Zaku II" by 9 votes, it came in an impressive second place.
As mentioned above, the first and second places were very close, but the third and lower places were slightly separated in terms of the number of votes. The "Dom (MS-09)" (48 votes) came in third place, followed by the "Gouf (MS-07)" and "Char's Zugoc (MSM-07S)" (42 votes) in a tie for fourth place. Both of these mobile suits are the mainstay of the Zeon army, and their popularity is not surprising. The most popular mobile suit in the Federation Forces was the "GUN CANNON (RX-77) " (39 votes), which ranked 6th. Surprisingly, the Gundam (RX-78 ), the main mecha, came in ninth place (33 votes). Perhaps, for the Gunpla generation, the mobile suits of the Zeon army, with its many variations and strong sense of levity, are more popular than the mobile suits of the Federation army.
