Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin" held an advance screening event for the second anime chapter! Shuichi Ikeda volunteered to go to the audition.

An advance screening event was held on October 17 for the OVA "Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin II: Artesia of Sorrows," which will begin showing in theaters on October 31.

This is the second chapter of the "Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin" anime, which has sold a total of 10 million copies as a manga work by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the character designer and animation director of the first Gundam, which began broadcasting in 1979. This time, the story focuses on what happened to Casbal and Artesia, who escaped to Earth with Zimba Ral, as well as the developments in Side 3, where the Zabi family has strengthened its control as the Autonomous Republic of Zeon. The film continues with Yoshikazu Yasuhiko as general director and character designer, Takashi Imanishi as director, Hajime Katoki as mechanical designer, and Hiroyuki Nishimura as chief animation director. Char's childhood (i.e., Casbal) was played by Mayumi Tanaka, and in this film, it is played by Shuichi Ikeda (role name: Edwau Mas). Newcomers Mirai Yashima is played by Ayumi Fujimura, Amuro Ray by Toru Furuya, and Char Aznable by Toshihiko Seki.

On October 17, an advance screening event titled "Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN Red Determination Lamentation of Artisia Premiere Screening" was held at Toyosu PIT. On the stage, a bar counter type set was set up to faithfully reproduce the "Club Eden" where various characters in the movie mingle, down to the labels on the liquor bottles. Shuichi Ikeda, Megumi Ban, who plays Seira Mas, Shigeo Kiyama, who plays Ramba Ral, and Miyuki Sawashiro, who plays Claure Hamon, shared their backstories. After the screening of the film, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the general director, also appeared on stage and talked about the secret story of the production and his passion for Gundam. In addition, Ms. Kaori Sawada, who sang "By Your Side," the song sung by Hamon in the movie, came to the end of the show and sang the song live. She charmed the audience just like Hamon. Here are some comments from the audience

Yoshikazu Yasuhiko
I have a very delicious role this time, and I have been given the role of general director, which sounds like a big deal, but I think the studio is probably a scene of carnage because I mostly stay at home cutting storyboards and checking original drawings (laughs). I don't know anything about that.
Incidentally, Toru Furuya, who plays Amuro, said to me, "If you're going to be in the film, I'm going to be in it too. Originally, there is no dialogue in the original story, but I wanted to record his voice as well. Since I played the role of Amuro in his childhood, I asked Mr. Furuya to remember his debut and play the role. He is cute, isn't he?

Actually, we had been talking about making an animated version of Origin for 5 or 6 years. It was about two years ago that I heard that the project was going to start in earnest, and when I heard that they were going to make a Shia Seira version, I read the original story again. I wanted to use my own voice to connect the young Edwau Mas to Char Aznable of the 0079 film, so I volunteered to audition for the role of Edwau Mas. At first I was a little apprehensive, but I was given the chance to play the role.
The role of Edwah was very difficult. On the day we finished the post-recording, while we were drinking at night, I wanted to do another post-recording, so I asked the staff to reshoot it again.
I only knew Seira Mas when she was 20 years old during the "Mobile Suit Gundam" days, and I was very happy to meet this Megumi Ban as Artesia. I never thought I would be working with her now.

Megumi Ban
I met Ms. Ikeda through my mother before I started this job. In this work, she took me by the hand and protected me, and I have always felt that my relationship with Ms. Ikeda has been somewhat like that of Casbal and Artesia.
The theme song for Artesia of Sorrow is a song about my brother's thoughts and feelings. It is the story of how he became Shia, so I hope you will watch it once again. Please come to the theater to see the moment when the gears of fate mesh.

Shigeo Kiyama
I had auditioned for the role, but I was told that I had been selected for "The Origin," but I was not told what role I would be playing. From then on, I have been nervous all the time. I did my best to play the role of Ramba Ral so that all Gundam fans would recognize me.

Miyuki Sawashiro
Actually, I am a Gundam amateur, so I'm on the stage in front of senior members who know more about Gundam than I do.
The seniors were more excited than usual to come to the postrecording session, or their spirits were rising up from their backs. I was able to hear Shia's voice live, and it was an overwhelming presence, and it was a luxurious job.
My favorite scene is the one where he falls on his knees. I really like Ramba Ral, who doesn't say, "Okay, okay," to Hamon, who is on his knees and has tears in his eyes.
I would like to see how Ramba Ral will be caught up in this great whirlpool of destiny in the future. I hope that you will keep an eye on the two of us, apart from the major flow of the main story.
