TECHNOBOYS and fhána to hold joint live performance at Billboard Live Osaka! The sound will resonate on a stage overflowing with love and laughter!

On October 4, 2015, "ORB presents TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND × fhána Special Live in Billboard LIVE OSAKA" by TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND and fhána was held at Billboard LIVE OSAKA.

TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND (hereinafter TECHNOBOYS) and fhána have worked on the opening and ending themes of the TV anime "Witchcraft Works" broadcast in 2014.

Although they have been in contact not only through "Witchcraft Works" but also on a regular basis, this will be the first time for them to hold a two-man live performance. In addition, female singer ChouCho will appear as a special guest, raising expectations even higher for what kind of chemical reactions will take place on stage.

Incidentally, it is customary for Billboard Live Osaka to have two live performances by the same artist on the same day, and this time the 1st stage started at 13:30 and the 2nd stage at 17:00.

The floor went dark, and the three members of TECHNOBOYS took the stage with the live band members. Soon after, thick synthesizer sounds began to flow from the speakers. The live performance opened with "Visible Invisible," a much talked-about song recorded in DSD256 multi-track format. Yohei Matsui's guitar echoed dully in the dimly lit venue, and Tomohisa Ishikawa's cool vocals spread quietly. Incidentally, Tomohisa Ishikawa started the second stage with a heartbreaking performance of a song from the TV anime "Sakurako-san no Atasama ni Shita ni Mareta Bodasareta" on the grand piano before the start of the live.

For the second song, they played different songs: "Lost Third" on the 1st stage and "A=A+A'" on the 2nd stage. Both songs are from their second album "good night citizen," but you could tell that they performed differently on each stage. This is the kind of fun that can only be had at a live performance, where the music is never in harmony with the schedule.

After the song, special guest ChouCho appeared on stage. Dressed in a red one-piece dress, she looked like a jazz club diva. She and the TECHNOBOYS members in black suits were a perfect match for the high quality stage of Billboard Live Osaka.

Welcoming ChouCho, they first performed "LOOP LOOP LOOP," a popular song by TECHNOBOYS. When they perform this song live, all the members sway their bodies to the rhythm, which is their usual style, and it was impressive to see ChouCho join them and pose with them in a very innocent manner. The performance, combined with the quality of her voice, created an interesting arrangement of dandy songs with a dainty touch.

After the song, MC followed. For the TECHNOBOYS, who hail from Osaka, this was a performance at the prestigious Billboard Live, a show that would be a fitting tribute to their hometown. Yohei Matsui, who has a smooth talk like a comedian, confessed the reason why his first MC was awkward.

He said, "Well, my family and relatives are here to see the show, so I'm a little nervous (laughs)."

As the audience laughed, ChouCho, who is from the same hometown, seemed to relax, and his intonation at the end of his words gradually became more and more Kansai-like. He then commented on the sound quality of Billboard Live Osaka.

The sound at today's show is thicker because all the power supply and cables are ORB, and there is no noise, which is usually the case."

As the band members said, the freshness of the sound from the analog synthesizers was clearly evident. When instruments such as guitars and drums are played live, it is said that "live sound is more powerful," and the same is true for electronic instruments. The more conditions are set up for analog synthesizers, the more powerful (or "thicker," as it were) each note is, and the clearer it sounds. The sound quality at Billboard Live Osaka, which clearly shows such a tendency, is a sound worth listening to even for electronic music lovers.

The next song, "Saturday Night Witches," a coupling track to the single "Witch Activity," featured Tomohisa Ishikawa on piano, Fujimura Towol on bass, and Kenji Yoshinoura on drums, a familiar sight in TECHNOBOYS' work, running across the stage.

Simmons' sound, familiar from the techno-pop of the 80s, was pounding away at the stage, and it was a truly poignant sight. The entire venue was intoxicated with the party atmosphere of the weekend.

SHaVaDaVa in AMAZING♪" is one of the four theme songs that adorn the ending of the TV anime "Trinity Seven," and is a popular song in ani-song clubs. It is not an easy task for one person to handle both parts. ChouCho took on the challenge.

It's fun to listen to, but it's a little difficult to sing," he said.

But once the performance started, the audience was surprised to hear ChouCho's singing ability, including beautiful scatting. On the other hand, the combination of Fujimura-Towol's bass and bass synthesizer, which became funkier, was also a highlight of the performance. The performance was very pleasant, with a high sense of groove interwoven with the pop sound.

The TECHNOBOYS have attracted attention for their recordings using analog synthesizers and state-of-the-art equipment, and are sometimes thought of as a unit specializing in the art of recording.

However, just as YMO did in the past, the TECHNOBOYS are a unit made up of players whose performances highlight the appeal of their live performances.

Then the song "kagami," with lyrics by Yohei Matsui and music composed and arranged by Tomohisa Ishikawa, from ChouCho's second album "secretgarden," was performed. When Matsui asked Ishikawa about the song, he replied, "It's difficult to play this piano. Who composed it? (laugh)" was the answer.

Billboard Live, where many jazz performances are held, has a grand piano on stage.

When Ishikawa, a performer well versed in jazz and classical music, began to play, the serene space was filled with the beautiful sound of the piano, eliciting sighs of admiration from the audience.

The sound of the piano gently accompanying ChouCho's earnest voice was perfect for the atmosphere of the venue.

ChouCho announced that she would perform at the "Girls und Panzer Orchestra Concert ~Herbst Musik Fest 2015~" on November 3 and sing the theme song for the "Girls und Panzer the Movie" to be released on November 21. The concert will be followed by a performance by TECHNOBOYO.

Various announcements followed from TECHNOBOYS. The most significant of these was the release of the ending theme single, "Uchikomareta Oblivion no Rreverberation ni," along with the music for the TV anime "Sakurako-san no Ashiwa ni Mareta Bodasama ni" (A Dead Body Buried Under Sakurako-san's Foot), but to the surprise of many, it was the first major single under the TECHNOBOYS name. It was funny to see the members talking shyly about their unexpected major label debut.

ChouCho was replaced by an old friend of the band members, Akio Fujiwara on vocals and guitar, who sang "Highway Boy," reminiscent of the West Coast rock of the late 70s. Seeing him like this, I felt the strength of the bond between the TECHNOBOYS and various other musicians.

The last song was "Nervous Sightseeing," their own vocal version of "BEAUTIFUL≒SENTENCE," the ending theme of the TV anime "Trinity Seven. The band's arrangement was dynamic, with live members Katsuhiro Kawano and Akio Fujiwara on guitars, and I found their stylish adult danceable sound, which evolved from new wave and elepop, to be very impressive.
