Gourmet Anime Popularity Poll" results announced!　No.1 is "JK Meshi! 2nd place is "Shokugeki no Soma" and 3rd place is "Koukibutsu Graffiti"!

Akiba Research Institute's anime portal "Anipota" held a voting project " Gourmet Anime Popularity Poll" from October 9 to November 3, 2015. Let us inform you of the voting results!

Gourmet anime, which stimulates the five senses, is a fascinating genre that has spawned numerous popular works from the 1980s classics "Mimi Shinbo" and "Mr. Ajikko" to the present. In honor of the "fall of appetite," we nominated anime that focus on cooking and food culture as their main theme, and solicited votes.

The first place winner was the currently airing fall anime "JK Meshi! The winner was "JK Meshi! JK Meshi" is a short anime in which high school sophomores Rena, Ryoka, and Ruriko show off their "JK Meshi" in between studying for exams. The dishes include miso soup with tomatoes, gratin with takuan (pickled radish), pizza made with gyoza (dumpling) skins and salted squid, and other dishes that combine ingredients that are cheap and easily available with unique ideas. While it is a gourmet anime, the trivia in the study scenes is also interesting.

In second place is "Shokugeki no Soma," which aired from April to September 2015, and tells the story of Souma Kouhei, who is admitted to an elite culinary school called "Togetsu Saryo Culinary Academy," where less than 10% of students graduate, and competes with rivals to become the best chef in the world. The recipes, created with the cooperation of cookery researcher Yuki Morisaki, are quite authentic, and the carefully rendered dishes, down to the finest textures, are simply mouthwatering. The bold reactions of the characters who try the dishes are also a topic of conversation, with their clothes being stripped off and their facial expressions becoming uncharacteristic.

Coming in a close third was "Koukibutsu Graffiti," which aired from January to March 2015. It is an everyday heartwarming story about a junior high school student, Machiko Ryo, who can no longer think of any food as delicious, and how she, along with her cousin Kirin and her friend Shiina, recall the deliciousness and warmth of food. While many of the dishes are homey and nostalgic, the meal scenes with cute female characters are somewhat sensational. Even if you are not a gourmet anime fan, you can enjoy this work from various aspects.
