From the TV anime "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju," which will start in January 2016, it was announced that the first episode, "Yotaro's Wandering Arc," will be broadcast in a one-hour slot.

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" is an anime work based on Haruko Unda's manga serialized in ITAN. The TV anime version shares the same staff: director Mamoru Hatakeyama, series composition by Jun Kumagai, character design by Mieko Hosoi, and rakugo supervision by Mieko Hayashi. The animation was produced by Studio Deen.

The broadcast start date has been set for January 8, 2016, and will air on MBS/TBS/CBC/BS-TBS in the Anime-ism slot. The first episode, "Yotaro's Wandering Arc," which describes how Yotaro, who is in prison, becomes an apprentice to Yurakutei Yakumo, a great master of rakugo, will be broadcast as an extended one-hour special. In addition, the second PV featuring "Yakumo and Sukeroku Arc," which focuses on the circumstances that led Yakumo to become a rakugo artist and his past relationship with Sukeroku (deceased), a rakugo performer who was called a rare genius, has also been unveiled.

In addition, advance ticket registration for the event to be held on December 12 at Hibiya Public Hall has started. The event will feature Tomokazu Seki (Yotaro), Akira Ishida (Yurakutei Yakumo), Yu Kobayashi (Konatsu), Koichi Yamadera (Sukeroku), and Megumi Hayashibara (Miyokichi), as well as the theme song produced by Ringo Shiina and sung by Megumi Hayashibara, and footage of the first episode will be shown first.
