Galpan the Movie made a good start at No. 1 in the box office ranking for the first two days of its first week! Additional screenings will be held at 24 theaters.

The anime film "Girls und Panzer the Movie" is off to a great start.

The original anime "Girls und Panzer," directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, depicts a heartwarming story based on the theme of beautiful girls and tanks. The realistic depiction of tanks and numerous beautiful girl characters have been highly acclaimed, especially by anime and military fans. In July 2014, the OVA "Girls und Panzer: This is the real battle of Anzio! was screened in theaters in July 2014, and the first theater version of the anime film "Girls und Panzer: The Movie" was released in November.

The film opened in 77 theaters on November 21, and drew 84,752 viewers over the two-day weekend of its first week. The box-office revenue was 128,438,980 yen (according to the box-office news agency), and it ranked first in the two-day box-office revenue ranking. It ranked second in terms of the number of moviegoers. It also ranked first in the first-day satisfaction ranking with a score of 92.9 (*November 21, Pia survey). Many people said they enjoyed the power of the battle scenes only possible in theaters, such as "the battle with tanks full of gadgets was great," "the sound of tank engines and attacks was amazing," "the battle scenes on the big screen had great momentum," and "the power of the final battle scene was especially great. Below is the director's comment.

In response to the positive response, the film will be screened at 24 new theaters*. The film will be sequentially released from the beginning of the new year. Incidentally, as for the visitor's bonus, the first week will be a mini-illustration color paper newly drawn by Fumikane Shimada (4 kinds/ distributed at random), the second and third weeks will be World of Tanks x Girls und Panzer collaboration bonus cards, and the fourth week will be a live frame film and a World of Tanks x Girls und Panzer collaboration bonus card. Panzer collaboration bonus card.

Comment by Tsutomu Mizushima
To be honest, as I write this (10 days before the release of the film), the film is not yet completed. However, if this article is reaching your eyes, the movie must have been successfully completed. I will write this with that intention.
I have been waiting for a long time for this film, and I have been repeating the same things I did for the TV series and the OVA, so my words are a little light, but I am truly sorry for making you wait so long.
When we started the production of this theater version, we had planned for the running time to be 80 minutes. However, as we added the things we wanted to do only at the theater, the things we left out on TV, the characters we wanted to show, and the situations we wanted to fight in, it quickly became 120 minutes long. It was 1.5 times longer than we had originally planned, but there was no point where we somehow extended the length of the film. Each and every one of our staff put their heart and soul into each and every cut. There is no place to reduce even a single frame any more.
Personally, I have felt since the time I was making the TV series that "Girls und Panzer" is best suited for the big screen and sound of a movie. I also thought that someday I would like to see tanks running around on the screen in all directions. At the time, it was just a dream, but after that, many people liked the film, and thanks to your support, we were able to make the film. Thank you very much!
Since I was in the position of director, that is exactly what I had to do until now: I had to be passionate, calm, and collected, and I had to devote myself to the production work, but the film is now complete. From now on, as a Galpin fan, I would like to enjoy the world of "Girls und Panzer" for a while.
