Pandora in the Red Shell" is an anime work based on a manga serialized in Kadokawa Nico Nico Ace by Shirow Masamune (original idea) and Rikudou Shinji (manga). The film is a sci-fi action piece about a girl with a prosthetic body who comes to a man-made resort island where she sees heavily armed terrorists and weapons of mass destruction roaming around, and confronts them with a buddy she meets there, It is produced by Studio Gogumi and AXsiZ. It is directed by Munenori Nawa of "Nogizaka Haruka's Secret" and "kiss×sis," with a script by Tatsuya Takahashi and character design and chief animation director Takuya Tani.

It was revealed that the TV series will start in January 2016. The staff and cast will be the same as the theatrical version, and the OP theme song will be "hopeness" by ZAQ, and the ED theme song will be "LoSe±CoNtRoL" (Loose Control) sung by Nanaten Gospel (CV: Fukusanae) and Clarion (CV: Numakura Aimi). Broadcast will begin on January 8 on TOKYO MX and other stations.
