Live-action film version of "Jinyuuki," starring Kenichi Matsuyama, will be released on February 27, 2016! Let the director of "Fat Man's Giant" reshoot the film!

The release date for the live-action film version of "Jinyuuki" has been set for February 27, 2016. A teaser visual has also been released.

The film is based on the manga "Chinyuki: Taro and His Wonderful Friends" by Man☆Gataro, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1990. The live-action adaptation of the legendary gag manga series, which has sold a total of approximately 4 million copies, has attracted a great deal of attention since its announcement.

The lead role will be played by Kenichi Matsuyama, who has a reputation for brilliantly portraying quirky characters such as L from "Death Note," John Krauser II from "Detroit Metal City," and Hiroshi from "Donegai Toad. This time, he is dressed as Taro Yamada with a shaved head and just a pair of underpants, and he will be giving a completely swashbuckling performance with action sequences. The director has also directed "Jigoku Koshien" and "Kai! Cromartie High School THE☆MOVIE" and "Gekijoban Elite Yankee Saburo. The script is written by Ookawara-san, leader of the comedy trio Onigashima and in charge of small jokes, who also reached the finals of King of Contest 2011 & 2013, and Shu Matsubara, a broadcaster who has worked on "Gintama" and "Osomatsu-san". Produced by DLE.

The film will be released at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters from February 27, 2016. To commemorate the live-action film, the first volume of the original comic will be distributed for free on the manga app "Shonen Jump +" until December 24.

Kenichi Matsuyama (Taro Yamada) comments
For a while now, there hasn't been a film that made me take off my clothes, so I accepted the role. I think I did a good job of taking off my clothes.

Yudai Yamaguchi (director) comment
Anyway, I thought I would not touch "Jinyuuki," which is one of the most difficult of Gataro's works, but DLE producer Kamitani seduced me into doing it (laughs). But if I was going to do it anyway, I wanted to take a different approach from what I had done before, and in discussing this with the two scriptwriters, I came up with the name of Matsuyama-kun, who could capture the essence and play the role, even though it was different from the visual image of the original work. I had worked with Matsuyama-kun before on "Ten Nights of Dreams" and knew from that time that he was a Gataro fan, and I had hoped to work with him again someday on a full-length film, so my wish came true. I think the live-action version of "Chin-Yu-Ki" captures the essence of Gataro's work even more. Generally, people tend to focus on the gruesome designs and eccentric depictions in Gataro's works, but in reality, his works are as pure as an elementary school student's. That's why Gataro's works are not underground, but are rather a reflection of the world around us, and the world around us. That is why Gataro's works are not underground, but rather Shonen Jump. I even jokingly called them "dark Pixar" (laughs). (Laughs) I made this film with the theme of something that elementary and junior high school students could enjoy. I would be even happier if the PTA banned "Jinyuuki" because elementary school students would be wearing pants to school and so on.

Comment from Man☆Gataro (original work)
I told you to make the worst movie ever, so why did you make it so interesting? Let the director of "Fat Man's Giant" reshoot it!
