This is an anime work produced to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the popular RPG "Tales of" series. Production will be handled by ufotable, which produced the opening animation for the game version of "Tales of Xillia" and the TV animation "Tales of Zestiria: Dawn of the Conductor" (1 episode). The catch copy is "The journey of a guiding hand exceeds that of Zestiria--". Other details have not yet been announced, but an event for fans of the series, "Tales of Festival 2016," will be held at Yokohama Arena on July 9-10, 2016.

In addition, a BD-BOX version of the TV anime "Tales of the Abyss," which ran for 26 episodes from October 2008 to March 2009, will be released on June 24, 2016 for 35,000 yen plus tax. Special features include: skit-style previews for the next volume "Prophecy" (8 episodes), skit-style animation "Secret Prophecy" (1 episode), audio commentary (#1, 5, 8, 10, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26), and bonus discs (cast discussion, skit-style animation, character PV, story Digest, etc.).

Tales of the Abyss" will be rebroadcast on TOKYO MX every Sunday from 23:00 on January 3, 2016 / every Tuesday from 23:00 on January 5, 2016 and on BS11 every Tuesday from 24:30 on January 5, 2016.
