TV anime "GARO -Kouren no Tsuki-" Blu-ray & DVD BOX to be released!　Comments from Keita Amemiya, Masakazu Katsura, and Masei Nakayama!

The Blu-ray and DVD box set of the currently airing TV anime "GARO -Kouren no Tsuki-" is now available for purchase, and the staff and cast have commented on the release.



GARO - Kouren no Tsuki" is the second TV anime following "GARO - GARO: Mark of Fire" in 2014 from "GARO (GARO)," a special effects series for adults that has aired a total of four series since 2005. This time, manga artist Masakazu Katsura, who is also well known as the character designer for "TIGER & BUNNY," has been invited to design the main characters, and a new story is being drawn as a "Neo Heian Katsudo" set in the Heian period. It is produced by MAPPA and TOHOKUSHINSHA, and will enter its second season in January.


The Blu-ray BOX and DVD BOX 1, which will be released on April 2, 2016, will include all 14 episodes of the TV series. BOX 2 will be released on July 6, 2016. The Blu-ray BOX will be priced at 24,000 yen (plus tax) and the DVD BOX at 20,000 yen (plus tax).

The 11th episode, which will air on December 18, will tell the story of Hakamadaru Yosuke (CV: Namikawa Daisuke), a nobleman turned righteous bandit. The head of the bandits, Tenkaimaru, is played by Akio Otsuka.

I was thrilled by the concept of developing GARO in the Heian period. I am truly honored to be a part of this project. I hope you will enjoy the parallel Heian period flavor of the characters, which I designed with a lot of sensuality!

GARO", director Keita Amemiya's "GARO" worldview, Masakazu Katsura's character designs, and the Heian-era taste fused together to create a new GARO wrapped in a never-before-seen "Japanese" world. Fans of the live-action and anime GARO series, as well as fans of Mr. Masakazu Katsura, are sure to enjoy this work. There is also a special episode called "Kyokyoku Banquet" that will be aired as a compilation episode, which is only 30 minutes long, but I believe it will be included in the video specials. I am actually looking forward to this one myself (laughs).
