NVIDIA's SHIELD Tablet K1, an 8-inch tablet for gaming, is now available

The "SHIELD TABLET K1," NVIDIA's 8-inch tablet with Tegra K1 CPU, isnow on sale at the Jan-gle Akihabara flagship store.




The SHIELD TABLET K1 is the successor model to the company's "SHIELD TABLET" Android tablet for gaming, which was recalled due to the possibility of the built-in battery catching fire. In addition to Android games, it can also use NVIDIA GameStream, which allows users to stream and remotely play games running on a PC with a compatible GPU, and GeForce NOW, a cloud-based game streaming service.

The basic specifications are the same as the previous model, with the main differences being that the built-in battery has been changed to a safe one and the OS version changed from Anroid 4.4 to Android 5.0. In addition, an update to Android 6.0 was distributed on December 21.

The main specifications are as follows:the onboard OS is Android 4.4; the onboard CPU is NVIDIA's Tegra K1 (operating clock: up to 2.2 GHz/quad-core). The display is an 8-inch LCD display (1,920 x 1,200 pixels). In addition, ithas2GB of memory, 32GB of internal storage,wireless LAN ( IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n ), front (5 megapixel)/rear (5 megapixel) camera, Mini HDMI,stereo speakers, and Bluetooth 4.0 LE .

The unit measures 221 (W) x 126 (D) x 9.2 (H) mm and weighs 390 g.
