On January 1, 2016, they held a concert "New Year Concert 2016 'FIRST*MODE'" at Hall A of Tokyo International Forum. Despite it being the beginning of the year, a large number of fans gathered, and with secret guests and surprises, the concert seemed to start the year off with a bang. Here is the report.

Even though it was a special day on New Year's Day, the room temperature in the hall rose before the show started due to the enthusiasm of the fans who had gathered at the venue. The concert started with the well-known song "Yume-iro Parade" to meet their expectations.
The audience was instantly heated up when the five members appeared on stage in furisode (long-sleeved kimono) costumes, reproducing illustrations drawn by the comic book author, Yuyi Hara. The second song was "Shirotsumezusa no Yakusoku", the lead song from the album "FIRST*MODE". The concert proceeded in a gorgeous manner, with a mixture of songs by all the members and solo songs. Incidentally, the title of the album, "FIRST*MODE," also means "Hatsu*MODE" (first visit to a shrine) by reading "MODE" in romaji.

The members appeared in the middle of the show, again dressed in the new costumes illustrated by Mr. Hara. When the five members in new costumes appeared on stage, they sang "Kiramekiiro Summer Rainbow," a popular song used in the program. Next, the five members introduced a secret guest, Ayaka Suwa (playing Honoka Matsubara), who sang a solo song, "Kohakuiro Pumpkin," and the venue was filled with cheers and groans. The six members, including Suwa, sang "Koshiro Southern Cross" together, showing their chemistry with a slightly comical choreography they had devised themselves.
The group continued with "Zenkai Magical Power" by Yumi Uchiyama with Nishi & Taneda as back-up dancers, and "Matsuri desu ☆Christmas! and "Festival Death☆Christmas!
Changing into their usual live costumes, they performed Rhodanthe*'s representative songs "Jumping! and "Satsuki Iro Haruzion," two of Rhodanthe*'s most popular songs, the entire venue was shaking with excitement.

As the encore began, the curtain further back on the main stage opened to reveal a special surprise: a big band!
The audience was surprised and delighted by "Your Voice" performed by a live band. The audience was also excited by "My Best Friends," followed by "Nijiiro Andante," a song of gratitude to those who support the band, during which the members rushed to Nishi's side to support him as he choked up with emotion.
For the double encore, they sang "Yumeiro Parade" one last time to close the start of 2016 with the many fans gathered at the Tokyo International Forum, smiling cheerfully.
