WITCH ON THE HOLY MERCHANT'S WIFE" is to be adapted into an anime!　Production by WIT STUDIO, distribution by Shochiku, OVA (trilogy) with prequel to be produced.

An anime adaptation of "The Mahoutsukai's Wife" has been announced.

The Wizard's Wife" is a manga work serialized in the monthly comic magazine "Comic Garden" by Yamazaki Kore. Set in modern-day England, it is a fantasy centering on a girl who can see inhuman things and a deformed wizard.

The staff of the animated version is directed by Norihiro Naganuma, director of "YAMAMUSU PEDAL THE MOVIE," with a script by Aya Takaha and character design by Hirokoh Kato. Animation production is by WIT STUDIO, with distribution by Shochiku and planning and production by Production I.G. The cast includes Atsumi Tanezaki as the main character, Chise Hatori, Ryota Takeuchi as the wizard Elias, Koki Uchiyama as the gravedigger Lutz, and Aya Endo as the housekeeping fairy Silkie.

The PV is also released. In addition, a completely original OVA "Mahoutsukai no Yome: Hoshi wo Maito Hito" (three parts), a prequel based on the original story by the author, Yamazaki Kore, will also be produced. It will be bundled with volumes 6-8 of the original comics. The first part will be screened for a limited two-week event starting August 13, prior to the release.

The "Mahoutsukai no Yome" is a very attractive work. It is a story about Chise, the main character, who comes into contact with the laws of nature, learns about beauty, and grows from a girl to a woman and a human being, as it is said, "This is a story about learning the beauty of the world. This is a work in which one can sense the beauty that shimmers for a moment in the flow of nature. A work that allows the viewer to find something in the gray, uninteresting world of everyday life. That is the kind of work I hope to achieve. Of course, I would like to make the story of Elias and Chise, "the girl and the outsider," and Silky, Lutz, Nevin, and the other "neighbors" in the original story, while also including the comical aspects of the original work, into the film. Animation takes a lot of people and a lot of time to create. And during that period of time, they concentrate and immerse themselves in the creation of the work. To put that much thought into it, we think hard about "what are we making? In the spring of 2014, I was at my favorite bookstore in Shibuya when I found a work with a cover that grabbed my attention. It was a book called "The Magician's Wife. This is a story about discovering the beauty of the world," was the copy of the original work. As these words express, the world depicted by the original author, Mr. Yamazaki, is rich and expansive in every way. I felt that this world is probably a large vessel that can accept however much the animation team expands its imagination and expression. We were convinced that this work would allow us to put all the passion of WIT STUDIO, which had just been established, into it, and we told many people that we would love to make an animation of it. As a result, we were able to create a 3-minute grand PV of the world of "The WITCH'S WIFE" as we saw fit. We are now going to make three OADs based on the ideas given to us by Mr. Yamazaki. We hope that people who have read the original work will feel that the world of "The Mahoutsukai's Wife" is depicted in the video. We will do our best to achieve this goal, so please give us your support.

To all of you who have been supporting "Mahoutsukai no Yome", my name is Atsumi Tanezaki, and I will continue to play the role of Chise Hatori in the OAD as I did in the Drama CD. I am so excited to be able to see the tear-jerkingly beautiful world created by Yamazaki Kore not only in sound, but also in video! You can see a part of it in the PV. Chise, Elias, Silky, Lutz, and...all those characters! I hope you can feel the mysterious and wonderful atmosphere like a breeze blowing through the air. (Elias's "Gee..." is my favorite...) The entire cast and staff will put as much thought and care into this production as we did into the Drama CD, so please look forward to it...! Dear all, my name is Ryota Takeuchi and I play the role of Elias in "The Mahoutsukai's Wife". I am filled with gratitude and joy to be able to be involved in this gentle, beautiful story as Elias. I am very excited to be a part of this anime project! Elias is a man without a soul, but his behavior is that of an English gentleman. But on the inside, he is like a child turned into an adult... He is cute, too honest, ruthless, and shows us many different expressions. Bones? He is a man of many faces. When the animation project started and I saw the grand PV, I could only breathe with emotion. I hope you will watch over Elias, a magician without a soul, and Chise and see how they will grow from now on! You can enjoy the story either from the anime or from the original work!
