OP Theme Popularity Poll [2016 Winter Anime]", Results Announced!　Songs by female ani-song singers finished one-two!

Akiba Research Institute's anime portal "Anipota" held a voting project "OP Theme Popularity Poll [2016 Winter Anime]" from February 16 to March 8, and we are pleased to report the final results.

This is a voting project to select your favorite opening theme song from new anime broadcasted in winter 2016 (from January 2016). The voting was open to 40 unique songs, ranging from cozy anisongs performed by voice actors to fashionable songs by non-otaku artists.

The winner was "Beat your Heart/Suzuki Konomi" with 2,950 votes, the OP song of "Bubuki Blanke," which won first place in the 2016 Winter Anime Competitiveness Popularity Poll, and won by more than a double score over the second place and below. This time the song is a fast-paced rock number and is anime song singer Konomi Suzuki's 9th single.

Second place went to "fantastic dreamer/Machico" with 1205 votes, the OP song of "Bless This Wonderful World! which was ranked No. 2 in the 2016 winter anime popularity poll, is sung by Machico, an up-and-coming anime song singer. Third place went to "Re:Re:/ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION" with 900 votes. This is a song by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, a well-known OP song of "Bokudake ga inai Machi" broadcast in the noitaminA slot. The song itself, however, was originally included in their second album "Solfa" released in 2004, and was re-recorded for this project.

Incidentally, the only song by a voice actor to make the top 10 is "Sono Koe ga Chizu ni naru / Saori Hayami," the OP song of "Aka Hair no Shirayuki Hime (2nd Cool).
