TV anime "Powerpuff Girls" renews dubbing cast for new series! Toyosaki Aki, Uesaka Sumire, Muranaka Satoshi, Hayashiya Shozo (old Kobuhei), etc.

A new series of the animated TV series "Powerpuff Girls" will start in June in Japan.




Powerpuff Girls" is an original anime broadcast on Cartoon Network, one of the world's largest animation channels with approximately 376 million households. Since its first appearance in the U.S. on November 18, 1998, "Powerpuff Girls" has been broadcast in more than 194 countries around the world, and in Japan it was broadcast in January 2001 on TV Tokyo (and in October of the same year on on Cartoon Network).

The new series will start in June in Japan. The new series will retain the same basic setting, but the character designs will be changed, and the Japanese dubbed cast will be completely renewed. Blossom, an honor student type who is smart and has a strong sense of justice, is played by Aki Toyosaki; Bubbles, a caring, naive, and spoiled child, is played by Sumire Uesaka; and Buttercup, a tomboyish martial artist whose hands go before her mouth, is played by Tomo Muranaka. In addition, rakugo storyteller Shozo Hayashiya (formerly Kobuhei) doubles as narrator and mayor, Dr. Utonium is Yoshihisa Kawahara, Mojo Jojo is Yukifumi Takeda, and Princess is Shiho Kojomon.


Prior to the June broadcast, a special program titled "Powerpuff Girls: Around the World! Powerpuff Girls" on April 9, and "Powerpuff Girls Expanded Special," a compilation of episodes 1-6, on April 24. Both episodes will air on Cartoon Network, a channel specializing in animated cartoons, at 10:00 a.m.
