Ryo Asai (original story) comments
I will never forget the shock I felt when I first saw cheerleading for boys only. I was buoyed by that passion when I started writing "Cheerleader Boys! but I always felt frustrated that I could not reproduce the eye-opening visual impression in writing. I have been groaning and groaning about such a fascinating competition for five years now, and I am trembling at the development of an "anime adaptation" that seems to solve all my problems. Please be illuminated by the unique brilliance of the only sport in the world in which cheering for the athletes becomes the main role!
Comment from Hiroyuki Asada (character design draft)
Ryo Asai's coming-of-age sports novel "Cheer Boys! will finally become an anime. The original character design is based on a variety of ...... men, as in a coming-of-age ensemble drama. All of them are men .......... But all the characters are really attractive. What I focused on more than the modeling was the "look" of each and every character. They will be breathed into by director Ai Yoshimura, and will live the story with unbelievable passion and all their might. A hot, hot summer is coming. Please look forward to it.
<Story>
There is only one sport in the world where you can become the star by cheering for others--cheerleading. It is the story of a group of slightly strange but cute college boys who devote their youth to cheerleading. Cheerleading is the only sport in the world. Haruki Bando, a former judo player, is invited by his childhood friend Kazuma Hashimoto to form an unprecedented male cheerleading team, the "Breakers". Gathered together are the unique personalities of Mizoguchi, who is logical, Ton, who is a glutton, Gen and Ichiro, who are good-natured Kansai people, and Sho, who is a beautiful young man with cheerleading experience." A new challenge begins for the men who have something they want to "break." ......
