Sword Dance finally gets a TV anime adaptation!　Act 1 "Touken Ranbu - Hanamaru-" (Production: Animation Studio) from October, Act 2 by the end of 2017 (Production: ufotable)

A TV anime adaptation of "Toukendanbu-ONLINE" has been announced.

The PC browser game was launched on January 14, 2015, and currently has more than 1.5 million registered users. The iOS/Android version of the app, which launched on March 1, 2016, has already surpassed 1 million downloads.

Two anime versions will be produced at once: the first act, "Toukendanbu-Hanamaru," will begin in October, and the second act, "Toukendanbu (tentative title)," will be broadcast by the end of 2017. The staff for Act 1 is directed by Takashi Naoya (first-time director of a TV anime series), character design by Junichiro Taniguchi, series composition and script by Pierre Sugiura, and production by Animation Studio. Act 2 will be produced by ufotable. The cast includes Kosuke Toriumi (Munechika Mikazuki), Tomoaki Maeno (Kunihiro Yamambagiri), Kaito Ishikawa (Kanade Utasen), Kazuyuki Okitsu (Toratetsu Hachisuga), Kento Hama (Yoshiyuki Mutsumori), Mitsuhiro Ichikawa (Yamatomori Stable) and Toshiki Masuda (Kiyomitsu Kashu).

<Story
The year is 2205. The year is 2205 A.D., a time when "history revisionists" have begun attacking the past with the intention of altering history. The "god of mourning," the strongest of the sword fighters, are gathered in the "Honmaru" by the "Shinjinsha," who have been given the mission to protect history. This work is a "Hanamaru" story that depicts their sometimes funny, sometimes confused and earnest lives in a certain Honmaru.
