TV anime "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" will soon reach its climax! For Haruko Unda fans, we also recommend the fall anime "Funa wo Henimu"!

The winter anime "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" will begin its final episode on April 1.

Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" is an anime based on the manga of the same title serialized in "ITAN" by Haruko Kumoda. Set in the world of rakugo in the Showa era (1926-1989), it depicts the true faces and deeds of rakugo storytellers. Directed by Mamoru Hatakeyama, series composition by Jun Kumagai, character design by Mieko Hosoi, rakugo supervision by Shinpei Hayashiya, and animation production by Studio Deen.

The cutaway scenes from the climax of the 13th episode have been unveiled. The jacket of the third volume of Blu-ray and DVD, which depicts Sukeroku, was also revealed. A new drama CD, "Rakugo na Hibi: Showa Genroku Raccoon Battle," will be released on April 27 and feature original stories by Kikuhiko (CV: Akira Ishida), Sukeroku (CV: Koichi Yamadera), and Miyokichi (CV: Megumi Hayashibara).

This work not only deals with the unique subject of rakugo, but also received high praise for its robust storyline, sensitive portrayal of human beings, and deep performances by the talented voice actors, and was well received by a wide range of audiences. Many viewers have become new fans of Ms. Kumoda's work, and for those who have, we recommend the 2016 fall anime "Arrange a Boat," for which Ms. Kumoda is the original character designer. Based on a novel by Naoki Prize-winning author Shion Miura, which also won the Honya Taisho Award. The story is expected to be a well-crafted human drama with deep characters.
